These are words that stayed with me all week following powerful discussions had at October’s end last month.

Was granted the opportunity to emcee and moderate annual symposium— this year’s topics were mental health and mindfulness.

, keynote speaker seen in these photographs, spoke the words I put above. Looking forward to reading The Little Book of BIG LIES, which the Queen Sugar actress and author released a few years ago.

And it was truly an honor to meet , and Qwamere. These Cheyney University students reminded me of helpful tips (paraphrasing) to guide me through stabilizing my own mental health, which took a brief dip recently:

- Isolate (Qwamere); if you need to step away from outside influences and energies to reconnect with yourself — do it.

- Journal and meditate (Prince); don’t leave thoughts floating in your head. Get them out. Also sitting still can recenter us when we feel…off.

- Pray (Shadia), our father in Heaven guides us through overwhelming uncertainty. Lean on him for strength.
