Here's another cool behind-the-scenes image from "True North". Our DP, Ryan Trenkamp, is hard at work setting up the right shot.
The location here was in St. Augustine, FL at the Black Raven Pirate Adventures who provided the period-fitting ship we needed for a key sequence in the film.
What's special about this is that no green screen was used. What you see in the film was an actual ship. We at Oxygen 7 Studios strive for real locations and practical filmmaking and this was no exception.

When a mighty lord seeks a dark sorceress to secure his bloodline, betraying the love and affection of his beloved but barren wife, a twisted curse of death is laid upon his life and a desperate cry for salvation echoes from within his soul.

Written and directed by Joseph Ely (True North, Bound by Grace), “Citadel of the King” is an epic and monumental fantasy short film that ignites a beacon of hope and redemption for those tangled in the webs of sin’s deceit and desolation.

The film features an extraordinary cast including Kerry Fager as Lord Davyd, Larissa Loeffler as Lady Brynne, Christina Loeffler as Al'kiara, and award-winning actor Garry Nation as The High King.

Ely's behind-the-scenes creative team includes producer Joseph Eli McGowan, director of photography Nathan Paine, production designer Brittany Polzella (Spiderman- No Way Home, Black Panther-Wakanda Forever), costume designer Betsy Clemons, hair and makeup artist Mary Smit (Beyond the Mask, Lifemark), and award-winning composer Jared DePasquale.

Introducing the ELY Label. ELY (aka Eternal Light Yearning) is a subsidiary of Oxygen 7 Studios that solely and exclusively focuses on producing fantasy (ELY Lore) and historical (ELY Portraits) stories.

Rooted in the Scripture passage of Romans 8:19-23, the ELY Label was born out of a desire to stir a deep longing for Christ’s second coming and the new creation.

The first ELY Label film is from the Lore Series and will be revealed very soon.

Introducing the True North Team: Robert IV Sugg, our fearless PA (Production Assistant). A lot of detail goes into making a film and a PA is vital in bringing those details to life. Though he works hard and is dedicated to help the crew in any way possible, Robert never forgets to have fun and his can-do attitude and joyous smile always brightens our production days. Whether he was running back and forth between the parking lot and the beach getting supplies, bringing water to the crew to stay hydrated, or helping build crosses for graves, Robert was very much appreciated and we were grateful to have him on our team. Thank you, Robert, for your work!
