Havering
Link FM is located in the London Borough of Havering, the furthest East of all the London Boroughs. The north and east of the Borough (Collier Row, Harold Hill, Harold Wood, Upminster) is bordered by the Essex countryside, and separated from Essex itself by the M25. The west - including the towns of Romford and Hornchurch - are adjoined by the neighbouring boroughs of Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham and covers an area of almost 40 square miles, half of which is green belt. Havering is the second largest borough in Greater London and has a population of around 230,000 living in 80,000 homes. Just over 28% of the population is employed (82% of working age are employed), and over 20,000 children attend one of 69 Primary Schools, with 14,500 of them enrolled at one of the 18 secondary or three special schools. The London Borough of Havering was created in 1965 as a result of the merger of the former Romford Borough and Hornchurch Urban District Councils. The name 'Havering' originated from the picturesque village of Havering-atte-Bower, where at one time there had been a royal palace. The road infrastructure comprises of the A12 (London to East Anglia), the A127 (Romford to Southend) and the A13, which gives access to the Dartford Crossing, Lakeside and eventually Southend. The M25, which marks out one of Havering's borders, gives fast access to the M11, A1 and M1. Rail links through Havering includes the Liverpool Street to Southend and Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness Mainlines. The main shopping centres include Hornchurch, Upminster and Romford, the latter of which is famed for its market. There are over 7,000 businesses in Havering, of which 94% employ between 1 and 24 people.
