Bounty Killaz - Voices
Track AAA on the second side is ‘Voices’. Those nightmarish chords and strings surround the dark forests and the breaks bombard the zone with flashlights, search lights and wailing sirens. This is a really strong tune in that it showcases these two gods of the production world, trying (at the time) something new. The Basement tricks have been carried forward by Paul, and Ashley adds these debonair sounds and touches that fuels the direction this music was heading. It was a match we should never take for granted, as so much came from it.
Amazing.

Alex Corton reviews… https://www.facebook.com/alex.corton.96 CW002 For the flip side and track AA, we have the title ‘Bounty Killaz’. Here, the rolling beats with that rewind, and the dark stabs that meet us, take us to a monstrous bass line and free flying pads. The ‘Bounty Killer’ vocal is stretched out through a mangle in the break and then the stabs tint a little darker. This one really hits me. Fierce, shady and bursting with menace. What a f**king tune! Love this one. #creativewaxrecordings #oldskool #jungle #dnb #bountykillaz #oldskooljungle #junglemusic #pulse #waxdoctor #foundations

Bounty Killaz - Part One - Brighter Future / Bounty Killaz / Voices
1993 / 2020
Let’s continue with our next label and onto one of the heavyweights of the ‘93 - ‘94 darkcore insurgence. We turn to the legendary sounds of Creative Wax.
The label had a dream team of producers turn out work: Pulse, Wax Doctor, Alex Reese, Jack Horner (part of Bad Influence), Tango, Underwolves (with Ned Kelly, the guy who managed the label in the early days and Professor Stretch), Justice, and then later on, Furney and Madcap. We really need to rewind to Dance Conspiracy (Dub War - still 5 chapters of the very best from ‘92… or from any period actually) for the meeting of Prof. Stretch & Pulse, who started planting the CW project seeds.
This label, Creative Wax, stands as an incredible monument for the sounds of Jungle and jungle techno with its jazz (later in the labels releases), and Detroit influences. I’m chomping at the bit here to get going.
Bounty Killaz are Ashley David Brown and Paul Saunders. DJ Pulse & Wax Doctor. There’s not really any more accolades to add for these two, that haven’t already been read or heard over the years. Both have a gift for working magic in studios, so teaming up with these ideas swimming around their heads was just jaw dropping. Being around in ‘93 I just didn’t think about the artists, just hearing the tunes, playing them out and about and losing it. Get ready for some huge f**king tracks!
Side A has ‘Brighter Future’ thumping out the typical Wax Doctor, jungle techno, 4 beat and stabs that defined his Basement material. This is very much in the Basement mold but it brings a massive smile to my face and frenzied blood rushing through my body hearing it again. For the year, it’s pinpoint on arrangement and the amens sit so tidy. A fantastic serving of good old banging darkside, hardc
