ShortReel, an award for student filmmakers in eastern and central England, has just been launched by the Cambridge Film Festival in association with the Arts Film Club. The award is for a short non-fiction film of up to 5 minutesand directed or produced by local student talent. It is open to anyone registered at an educational institution within the counties covered by the Film Hub Central East (N

ottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Suffolk, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex). There is no age limit. The winning film has its premiere at the Arts Picturehouse during the prestigious Cambridge Film Festival. In addition, the winner will be awarded a £200 cash prize.
