［MUSIS04 Ohayo Encounter with Minipiano (おはよう ミニピアノとの出会い)］

Do you know “Minipiano”? It is a rare piano originally made in Japan in the early 20th century. It is different from a toy piano because it has one string attached to each note, and the hammer strikes the string. In a sense, it is a real piano that is just reduced in size.

Today MUSIS announces that a very exciting Minipiano CD by Naruhiko Kawaguchi will be released on 15th December! Here are words from him in the boooklet↓

“There are a variety of reasons that inspired my motivation for recording this CD: I wanted to let as many people as possible know about the interesting Japanese culture of old days; to promote the idea that the minipiano could exist not just as a “piano for children," but as a unique instrument that serves artistic purposes; and to take historical pianos that are unique to Japan more seriously as a period instrumentalist myself.

There are a total of 35 pieces carefully selected for this recording. It was fun to explore the world of musical works that could only be depicted by the minipiano.”
