Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi Announces New Date for 2024 AyanAgalu Traditional Drum Festival

The Paramount Ruler of Ife, Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Custodian of Yoruba culture and traditions, alongside Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, cultural ambassador of the AyanAgalu Traditional Drum Festival, has announced the new dates for the 2024 AyanAgalu Traditional Drum Festival. The event will be held on July 17th and 18th, 2024 at Ife Grand Resort in Ile-Ife.

The festival will take place in Ile-Ife, the ancient city and traditional headquarters of the Oduduwa race. Following the success of its inaugural edition last year, this year’s festival is highly anticipated. The main celebrations will occur at the Ojaja Arena within Ife Grand Resort, where the vibrant sounds of drums will create an electrifying atmosphere.

AyanAgalu, revered as one of the deities sent by Olodumare to the earth for the progress, development, and happiness of mankind, holds a significant place in the cultural identity of the Oduduwa race. Seeking divine guidance, AyanAgalu consulted the Oracle through Orunmila, the deity of divination, to receive blessings for honor, wealth, and celebration among people and other deities. Ifa divination revealed the sacred drumming tools and materials, such as sticks, skin, and drum belts, used for AyanAgalu’s revered sacrifices—a tradition that remains central to drumming ceremonies to this day.

The Oduduwa race, renowned as pioneers of drumming and music, shares an extraordinary connection with AyanAgalu. As deities call upon AyanAgalu to grace their ceremonies, the rhythmic beats and soul-stirring melodies bring joy and illumination to these auspicious occasions, in harmony with the ancient prophecies divined by Ifa.

In an effort to foster cultural exchange and global appreciation for traditional rhythms, the Ooni has extended an invitation to drummers and cultural enthusiasts from Nigeria and beyond

Bayelsa State Commissioner For Education Visits Rural School, Meet Pupils Washing Cassava In Premises During Learning Hour

Bayelsa State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dr. Gentle Emelah visited Community Primary School 1 & 2 Angalabiri in Sagbama LGA on routine inspection

During his visit, he met pupils of the school washing freshly harvested cassava in the school premises during learning hours. The pupils told him that they have not learnt anything that day and where tasked by the teachers to harvest cassava for them

Upon interrogation, the Teachers accepted that the pupils were working for them while pleading with the Commissioner to forgive them for the disappointing act.

Dr. Emelah who expressed great displeasure with the situation summoned the Head Teacher who was absent and all other Teachers in the School to report at the Commissioners Office in Yenagoa for sanctions.

This is the true story of the trending Emdee Tiamiyu that was deported from the UK.

He was a former Nigerian police officer who relocated to the UK in September 2022. He went on a student visa with the aim of obtaining a degree from Wolverhampton University.

In 2023, he granted the BBC an interview where he claimed that most Africans coming to the UK for studies are not really interested in the degrees but just as a means of permanent relocation with their dependants.

This did not sit down well with Africans especially Nigerians on the Japa train. Consequently, the UK government changed their immigration laws and placed a ban on students traveling to the UK with dependents.

After a barrage of online insults, Emdee approached the UK government, claiming that his life was in danger and that he could not return to Nigeria.

Following his plea, the UK government decided to grant him asylum and provided him with £126,000 to start a new life in the UK.

However, he invested the money back home in Nigeria, in real estate and a school. He doesn't fly to Nigeria directly as he would first travel to Ghana, entering Nigeria by bus without his passport to supervise his projects.

He was unaware that the UK government had obtained information about how he was using the grant they gave him in Nigeria, despite claiming his life was in danger.

He was arrested and detained, the UK government asked to refund the grant given to him as he couldn't account for the usage. He was eventually deported back to Nigeria.
