Rather than focus on the recording industry, long in a state of decay, Saponegro exploits every revenue stream available to independent artists outside of music sales. These include (but are not limited to) concert appearances, merchandising, tourism components, online exposure, and direct-to-fan marketing such as fan-accompanied touring (such as the Afro-Peruvian Sextet’s Tour Perú model). Some revenue from music sales is, of course, also expected but is not the centerpiece of the Saponegro model.
