Yes, all of creatives - regardless if we are simple art workers or high-flung creative directors - love "the big players": the creatives who work for big brands like Coka Cola, Nike, Apple, Smirnov and who else... We love the freedom people like Sagmeister & Walsh or Jung Von Matt are enjoying, whilst we - the foot soldiers of design, the small and middle sized companies - are providing more than
85% of the COMMONLY visible design for "the rest" and not THAT free in what we do for our customers. And just because the "big" brands are so COMMONLY cool, our work goes mostly unnoticed as great works of the design craft, the art of delivering the right information to the right recipients. Now, established magazines either concentrate on the designers who work for the big brands (like Computer Arts) or on designers who are on the fringe between art and design (like the Creative Review). And whilst we crave for information from the inside of our business, we would love to share and read about "our" work as well. There's where æX is coming in.
æX not only wants to fill the gap left by the established design magazines. It wants to create a platform for COMMON designers and art workers to show their work and their passions to a various readership of fellow designers and art workers and fans of great COMMON design.
æX's first issue will be published in January 2014 and will be free of charge.
