This is to inform all candidates seeking to sit the 2022 UTME that the commencement of the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) and Direct Entry(DE) Registration exercise earlier scheduled for Saturday, 12th February, 2022, has now been postponed to Saturday, *19th February , 2022, to Saturday, 26th March, 2022.*

The one-week postponement is to allow for more fine-tuning of the upgraded and more user-friendly procedures for candidates' registration.

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC has announced the immediate release of withheld results of candidates, exonerated of malpractices during the conduct of West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2020 – Second Series and WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2021- First Series.

This decision was taken by the council during its 72nd meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee, NEC, vowed to sanction those indicted of any malpractice during the conduct of the examinations

The chamber, with the passage of the FUTA (Amendment) bill, gave approval for the upgrade of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, from a Diploma awarding institution to a full-fledged Degree awarding Federal University of Technology.

The passage of both bills followed the consideration of two separate reports by the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND.

The College of Education, Akwanga in the Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has expelled 23 of its students for engaging in examination malpractice during its first semester examinations of the 2020/2021 session.

Investigation we made revealed that the decision was made by the academic board of the institution during an emergency meeting held on 6th January 2022, in line with section 20.0 of the Students Information Handbook.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, on Monday, stated that pre-examination activities, including registration for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination would start late due to forces beyond its control.

The board also defended its decision to enforce the National Identity Number requirement in the registration process.

Residents of Auchi and its environs in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, have commended the National Assembly for the passage and transmission of the bill to upgrade Auchi Polytechnic to a University of Technology, to President Muhammadu Buhari.



The residents who gave the commendation on the platform of Alliance for the Advancement of Auchi Polytechnic, particularly commended the member representing Etsako federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Johnson Oghuma, who sponsored the bill.

Breaking News, Nigerians can now work in Nigeria and get paid in US Dollars .

The convener, Alhaji Oshiobugie Danjuma‎, in statement on behalf of the residents yesterday, noted that the bill when assented to by the President, the multiplier effect of upgrading the nation’s foremost polytechnic to a university would be noticeable in no distant future.

Besides, the residents said upgrading the institution would not only be beneficial to Nigeria students, but would further open up the host community and its environs, adding that posterity would positively judge Oghuma for his developmental strides in Etsako federal constituency and urged him to continue to make laws that would impact positively on the people.

Finally, reps has pass bill abolishing Bsc, HND Dichotomy

A bill seeking a perpetual end to the dichotomy between the university degrees of Bachelor’s of Arts/Science, BA/BSc and the Higher National Diplomas, HNDs awarded by polytechnics have been passed into law in the House of Representatives.

Titled “A Bill for an Act to Abolish and Prohibit Dichotomy and Discrimination between First Degree and Higher National Diploma in the Same Profession/Field for the Purpose of Employment; and for Related Matters”, the bill was read for the third time which was the final stage of the law-making process at Tuesday plenary.

The next stage would be concurrence with the Senate before it will be transmitted to the Presidency for the presidential assent.

The bill stipulates some punitive measures against any form of discrimination against holders

The Implication of the piece of legislation is that the two certificates are now at par with each other.

The deputy majority leader, Hon. Peter Akpatason moved for the third reading of the Bill and it was seconded by Rep. Aishatu Dukku.

The Bill was later voted on and approved for the third reading.

Detailing the equality of Degrees and HNDs, the bill stipulates that “Notwithstanding any provision in any legislation, circular, regulation or policy guideline, First Degree and Higher National Diploma shall be deemed construed and treated as equivalent qualification for the purpose of employment and career progression at workplace in the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy.

“Any provision in-laws, enactments, instruments, circulars, scheme of service, directives, or policies by whatever name called, which is inconsistent with the provisions of this bill, shall to the extent of the inconsistency be null and void, and of no effect.

Dead body with hands tied found floating on Ilorin river

A dead human body was found in Asa River, along Emir’s Road in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Monday.

Spokesman of the state Fire Brigade, Hakeem Hassan Adekunle, in a statement in Ilorin, said the body was discovered with the hands tied on his back and head covered by some tattered wrapper.

He said the body was evacuated by operatives of the brigade at about 1440 hours.



Hakeem disclosed that the attention was drawn to the brigade by one Olamilekan after residents in the neighbourhood found the dead human body floating on the river.

No concrete evidence has been found on the cause of the incident.

The statement added that the unidentified body was handed over to Superintendent Ajape, SP, of the state police command, who led a team of officers investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, Director of the state fire brigade, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed sadness on the development and advised members of the public to be vigilant to prevent future occurrence.
