In Mikladalur Harbor on Kalsoy, part of the Faroe Islands in Denmark, stands a striking 9 ft-tall statue made of bronze and stainless steel, depicting the mythical Kópakonan (The Seal Wife). Unveiled in August 2014, this sculpture was crafted by artist Hans Pauli Olsen and serves as a tribute to the selkie legends prevalent in this region. These tales, particularly two famous myths about the Seal Wife, are deeply rooted in Faroese folklore. The legend describes selkies as humans who chose the sea over life, transforming into seals. According to myth, once every year on Twelfth Night, they could shed their seal skins, assume human form, and revel in earthly pleasures for a short time.

Mesa Verde - a very well-preserved prehistoric settlement landscape of the Ancestral Puebloan culture, which lasted for almost nine hundred years from 450-1300 CE.

This plateau in southwest Colorado, which sits at an altitude of more than 2600m, contains a great concentration of spectacular Pueblo Indian dwellings, including the well-known cliff dwellings.

This rare lli Pika rabbit has been photographed for the first time in 20 years!🐰 Its numbers have dwindled to around 1,000 living Ili Pikas, making it more rare and endangered than the Panda. Also called the "magic rabbit", the Ili Pika needs protection from whatever is killing it off. The cause is unknown, though many blame global warming, along with low population density and mating issues. Ili Pikas live in Tian Shan mountains of northwest China.🐇

A factory in The Netherlands 3D prints 500 tons of steaks a month. Redefine Meat company will supply German restaurants with printed fillets.

Approximately 110 German restaurants are already buying "meat" from Redefine Meat.

"To begin the 3D-printed meat process, scientists biopsy a batch sample of animal stem cells depending on the desired type of meat — beef, pork, poultry, or even fish. These cells then undergo an in vitro proliferation process, bathing in a nourishing, nutrient-dense serum within a climate-controlled bioreactor.

Over the course of several weeks, these cells multiply, interact, and differentiate into the fat and muscle cells that make up bio-ink. Then, a robotic arm uses a nozzle to dispense this paste-like, cultured meat filament in fine layers atop one another. The arm follows the instructions of an uploaded digital file using computer-aided design, or CAD, software in order to replicate the correct shape and structure of the intended meat. 3D-printed meat material must be viscous yet firm enough to reproduce a structural model complete with accurate tissue vascularization, depending on the type and cut of meat."

A female European Honey Buzzard Bird was fitted with a satellite tracking system in Finland recently and was of particular interest to locals because it spent the most recent austral summer around the town of Reitz in the Free State in South Africa. She left Reitz to start heading north on 20 April and on the 2nd of June, she finally reached Finland where she will probably spend the boreal summer before probably returning again next season for a visit in South Africa.

Here is an image showing the data received from the tracker which plots out the route that she took to head north... so, in just 42 days, she covered over 10 000 km at an average of more than 230 km every single day! Isn’t that just amazing...?!"

What is amazing is how she took a straight line north except for when she had to fly over water. (or Sudan)
Apparently she turned right at the source of the Nile and followed it. It is still fascinating that after that deviation she returned to the same longitudinal line she started on and continued until she reached her destination.

Mother nature at its most fascinating best!

2,000-year-old tree in South Africa called The Tree of Life. The baobab tree

Baobab trees are among the most unique trees that grow in Africa. According to an estimate, these trees are among the oldest trees on earth. In the savanna (Africa) the climate is very dry. Where other trees grow with difficulty. The baobab tree thrives there.

During the rainy season, the baobab tree absorbs and stores water in its broad trunk. A full tree can store thousands of liters of water within itself. The water stored in its trunk is so much that the tree can survive for years thanks to this water. Can survive even in drought.

The baobab tree can grow up to 30 meters tall. And it can live up to five thousand years. Baobab trees can provide shelter, food and water for animals and humans, which is why many savannah communities have built their homes. Made near the baobab trees. And this tree is considered the tree of life.

The fruits of this tree are also exceptionally rich in nutrients and antioxidants.
The baobab fruit is the only fruit in the world that dries naturally on its branch. Instead of falling off and spoiling, it stays on the branch and ripens in the sun for 6 months - the pulp of the fruit dries completely.
Its green velvety coating transforms into a hard coconut-like shell. 100% pure fruit in its natural form. Amazingly, the fruit has a natural shelf life of 3 years. It has been used for years to treat fatigue, digestion, protection against disease, and infection, as well as beautify the skin.

Ropes are made from the bark of this tree. While its leaves are eagerly eaten by cattle. And the clear water in its stem can be drunk. While the oil made from its fruit seeds is used in cosmetics. The value of which is very high in the market.

Baobab trees grow in some of the driest, remotest, and poorest parts of rural Africa. According to a report by National Geographic, demand for this tree is increasing due to its unique characteristics.

Another solar flare is heading towards Earth. In two weeks, the opportunity to witness the aurora will arise once again. While everyone marvels at its beauty, few consider that a powerful solar flare could incinerate the Earth in a matter of seconds.

For this National Geographic photo shoot, Angelina Jolie did not bathe for 7 days because bees are sensitive to smells and will not sting when the smell is too strong.

Thousands of bees were flying around the actor during the photo shoot.

The session was held in honor of World Bee Day, with Angelina Jolie posing with bees for 18 minutes... a noble and risky gesture to honor the insects that play a fundamental role in our nature.
