A 54-story tower called Miami River is under construction.
The cranes are planned to rise 760 feet above the ground.
The tower will become Miami’s westernmost building that is taller than 600 feet.
A $310 million construction loan is financing the first phase of work.
Site work began in August 2021, with a Notice of Commencement officially filed in November, shortly after construction financing was issued.
The first phase now under construction will have 632 apartments, retail space, and a promenade on the river that will be open to the public.
Eventually, several other towers are planned at the complex. When fully complete, the development is planned to have 1,678 residential units, 330 hotel rooms, 196,882-square-feet of retail space, and 98,040-square-feet of office space.

Bal Harbour Village waterfront park to be built on the corner of 96th Street and Bal Bay Drive on the site of the current park. Designed with suggestions and discussions from Village residents through a series of workshops held last year, the versatile public space looks like a perfect fit for Bal Harbour. Zyscovich Architects created the renderings that show a beautifully designed two-story 12,000 square foot community center with a rooftop viewing area, several multipurpose rooms and indoor play area. Outside there will be an amphitheater, children’s playground, splash pad and fountains, passive spaces, waterfront boardwalk, walkways and terraces, shaded areas, parking and extensive landscaping.
Construction began in April 2020 along with an off-site relocation of the Parks and Public Spaces Department Operations Facility.

At Modesto A. Maidique Campus, construction completed on Parkview Two, a 13-story residence hall that will serve approximately 700 upperclassmen students. It is expected to be open by fall of 2022.

The distinguishing features of the building: large lounges surrounded by glass that overlook Miami.

“The architects were told to design something that would be the centerpiece of campus. This building is going to tower above other buildings on campus, so we wanted it to be sleek. We wanted it to be modern. We wanted it to be Worlds Ahead,” said Andrew Naylor, senior director for Housing & Residential Life.
