Hey, Cohorts, Narrators, Past Guests, and listeners of The Pennsylvania Project!
Not sure if you heard the momentous announcement that’s I made during the most-recent episode of The Pennsylvania Project. (Drum roll, please...) After almost five years of being on the air, Episode 246 (which aired on Christmas Day) will be the last episode of The Pennsylvania Project for the foreseeable future. I chose not to renew my contract for 2024, much to the disappointment of the folks at WWDB.
The main reason for ending the show is the amount of time it requires. Not only does it take up most Thursday evenings recording the show (and tailgating afterwards!), I also spend my entire Wednesday evening putting it all together. Then there are the related activities, such as lining up guests, scheduling Cohorts, Narrators, and advertisers, and other behind-the-scenes duties. Once my producer Marc Bozzacco moved out of the area, all this and more fell to me. And unfortunately, the amount of time required to keep the show alive has become untenable.
Make no mistake, I thoroughly enjoy doing the show, getting ready for it, and doing all the back office things too—even arguing with Bernie, our resident Leftist. Since you’ve sat there in the studio with me, you know that for a fact. But something else has come up which is going to dominate more and more of my time, not only in 2024, but also in 2025 and 2026 that precludes continuing with The Pennsylvania Project. (Drum roll again...) I’ve tossed my hat in the ring to seek the Libertarian Party nomination for Governor of Pennsylvania in the 2026 election. So rather than spending two nights a week creating and recording each episode of The Pennsylvania Project, I’ll be focusing that energy on the upcoming election instead.
Along those lines, I’ve already put together a full campaign staff, including a campaign manager, treasurer, webmaster (KenK4Pa.com), draft website, etc., etc., etc., and all the staff required to help build a successful campaign. I do still need to earn the party’s nomination, but that won’t happen until early 2026—if ever! In the meantime, I’ve already been traveling thousands of miles around the state lining up delegates to help secure the nomination. And the reaction has been very positive. Check out the audience response to my announcement that I made at the most-recent Pennsylvania Libertarian Party state convention: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GO37jK7g94c. Heartening to hear!
So this is the end of an era. After 246 episodes spread weekly over almost five years, hosting 38 different Cohorts,128 different Toastmasters, and literally hundreds of guests, I’m finally hanging up my headphones for good. (Or for bad! ;- ) But before I ride off into a gubernatorial sunset, I had to take a moment to thank you all for all of your help, support, and FUN that we shared putting those episodes together. I could not have done it without you, and I cannot thank you enough.
And in celebration of the end of that era, for those of you in the immediate vicinity let’s get together for one final party at 6:30 PM on my birthday, February 25, at Miller’s Ale House, just off the Willow Grove exit of the turnpike at PA 611. No need to RSVP; just show up. And of course I’ll be staying late, as is my wont.
Thanks again, good luck in all your future endeavors, and always remember that it’s more important to solve the correct problem rather that solving the problem correctly. And the correct problem for me to solve now is to take direct action for a better Pennsylvania.
- Ken
