Hank here. Jake was in town with us live for this recording and I must say, it is probably one of the best record sessions we have had. There is no substitution for that personal presence from everyone.

We went a little long and went full send. I don’t think Tim saw it coming.

Just the way we like it!

Ben here, aka Jake from Recon 17

The past couple of days have been a lot of fun. I'm in Orlando, hanging out with the gang from To Morrows End Podcast, prepping for Sunday's Recon 17 recording session.

On Friday, Timothy Gray and Dana Iversen took me to the Kennedy Space Center. Seeing the path to the stars and being up close to that journey was so inspiring. I got some souvenirs (pics below in a minute) and took a few pics.

Today, the whole team hung out at Hourglass Brewing, and we did an informal recording session for the podcast's supporting listeners. Afterward, we ate at Anna's, a little family owned Polish restaurant that changed my opinion of sauerkraut.

Tomorrow, we record for the first time all in the same place. I've bene doing remote sessions with this crew for several years, and finally getting to do a live session is a long-awaited goal. We'll see you all tomorrow. For tonight, here are a few pics of some of my souvenirs.

There are some things that are cool for learning and cool for doing new things and then some are tools that enable you to do things that are just not possible without them. I started in 3d printing back when there was only one choice the rep rap. And I could not afford one. So I built one out of wood and other random parts and it printed things utterly horribly it barely printed anything and it burned its self up. I kept at the cheap fringe of 3d printing and maker culture for years and fought with different aspects but learned a lot on my journey. This past year I decided it was time to stop playing and make a real tool. I wore out most of my old printer making parts. Making failed parts. Re-making parts until this past December I built completely from scratch a Voron2.4. This printer is a professional tool compared to what I have been using all these years. This weekend I used it to print the parts to build a CNC machine that I will be assembling the next month or so. To make machined plastic and metal parts. These parts can not be printed on the toys I had before because of dimensional accuracy and that the plastic needed has to have a heated chamber. As well as on the old printer it would have taken over 200 hours to print. Now it will be done in 48 hours with all parts done. Just 12 years ago when I started messing with 3d printing, I would have never guessed that it would get to where it is today. I am using that tool to print another powerful tool that will allow me to make even more things. These tools would be a part of science teams and depots and bases. The morrow world with todays technology would be able to accelerate the rebuild with these tools.
