Luanshya boarding house burns to ashes

FEMALE students of Roan School of Nursing in Luanshya have lost their possessions after fire swept through their boarding house on Thursday afternoon.

The boarding house which is located in Luanshya at house number, 475 section 3 in Roan Township occupied 16 students.

circumstances behind the fire have remained unconfirmed.

According to a statement by Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba, the house went up in flames as three of the students were sleeping while 13 others went to work at the hospital they are doing attachments at.

Some alert neighbors who observed thick smoke bellowing from some windows of the house and immediately alerted the sleeping students.

Upon discovering that three rooms were on fire, the students quickly escaped through the windows and later stood outside the burning house helplessly to await the arrival of the Fire Brigade.

Unable to allow everything burn to ashes, some onlookers braved heat and sneaked into the burning house to retrieve some property fro the rooms that had not caught fire yet.

But despite their best efforts, property worth K200,000 was lost on the fire.

Mutinta has continued to live a humble life and has no appetite for wealth. We strongly denounce politics of malice.

POLICE DETAIN LAWYER MUKUKA.

Police in Livingstone have detained lawyer Philip Mukuka for allegedly attempting to r**e and murder a fellow learned lawyer.

Mukuka allegedly attempted to r**e 30-year-old Enia Kaingu after a drinking spree a fortnight ago.

Confirming the detention of Mukuka, Zambia Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said investigations into the matter are still on going.

"Remember, he was supposed to have been brought last Wednesday, but his lawyer (Isaac Masonga asked to have him brought on Monday). He was brought and we have charged him with attempted r**e and murder and he has since been detained in our cells (at Livingstone Central Police Station). Investigations are still on going," Hamoonga said.

Mukuka allagedly attempted to r**e Kaingu after a drinking spree at Dry-Manzi, Bee-Hive and later at Royal Livingstone Hotel.

He according to a statement by Kaingu made known to The Mast by a police source did drive Kaingu into a bushy World Heritage Site to a place near the Gorge Swing Expedition area after the Victoria Falls Power Station where he attempted to r**e her before she fled and fell in a shallow ravine losing her cell phone in the process.

Kangu is said to have walked over two to three kilometres to a paramilitary police camp naked where she was assisted with a wrapper by female police officers after Mukuka left her in the Buffalo infested forest.

Police have since recovered her cell phone, skirt and shoes from the site and have also impounded Mukuka's black Range Rover Discovery.

THREE BIG BLACK LABEL'S MADE ME CHEAT SAYS NDOLA MARRIED WOMAN

A MARRIED woman in Ndola has blamed the fact that she had a one night stand with a married man on the three big Black Label beers he bought for her.

The notorious encounter was brought to light after Gibson Musonda 38, sued his neighbour Boyd Chabuka for committing adultery with his wife in a Kabushi local court.

Musonda told the court that on the seventh of this month, he had gone to watch football at 24/7 Lodge in Kabushi.

While he was watching the match, he just saw Chabuka buying beer from the counter.
"He bought one Mosi and one black label and took it to the room he was in. I know him but did not pay much attention and continued to watch the match,” he said.

After the match ended and Musonda was about to go home, he saw the accused leaving the room in company of his wife.

The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested former Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Stardy Mwale for corrupt practices involving K8,500,000.00

Mwale, 51, of Flat 21 Eureka Park in Makeni, has been charged with two counts of Corrupt Practices by Public Officer contrary to Section 19(1) as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act no. 3 of 2012. He has also been charged with one count of Possession of Property Reasonably Suspected to be Proceeds of Crime contrary to Section 71 of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act No. 19 of 2010 and one count of Conflict of Interest contrary to Section 28 as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No.3 of 2012.

CONSTRUCTION OF MORDEN HOSPITALS IN CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PROVINCES ELATES LISWANISO

The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) is racing to attain the 17 sustainable development goals in the country.

And UPND National Youth Chairman Gilbert Liswaniso is elated at plans underway to commence construction of modern hospitals citing Central and Southern Provinces.

Speaking during a productive interaction with the media in Lusaka, Mr Liswaniso said the New Dawn administration is committed to fulfilling its promises on good health care across the country.

In expressing concern at the lack of enough stock of medicine in some health centers across the country, Mr Liswaniso urged Medical Stores Limited (MSL) to ensure drugs are delivered on time emphasizing that the UPND government has attached great importance to the health of Zambian citizens.

And the National Youth leader was quick to mention that President Hakainde Hichilema and the New Dawn administration are working towards improving health delivery through construction of seven (7) new and modern hospitals in different districts to be announced soon.

"This is in addition to the employment of more than 11,000 health workers.

"We have seen President Hakainde Hichilema making productive trips to not only market Zambia but also facilitaing investment in infrastructure, Manufacturing and trade.

HATE AND FALSEHOOD DO NOT BUILD A NATION

The Female Wisdom Corner has taken keen interest in what builds the country with women at the helm of leadership.

Recently social media was taken by vibes on allegations levelled against a media personality leader.

And the Female Wisdom Corner has learnt that the person in questioned being defamed as since taken action in form of request that the defamatory statements be withdrawn or legal action taken.

It is important to note that women today have careers and ambitions to create a better place or a particular nation for all.

They should not however drag each other but build to inspire each other especially the young people.

Defaming others more especially innocent people in order to make oneself comfortable is unproductive.

There should not be any feeling of one being a threat to someone.

So there is no need you to exhibit a huge hate against each other to an extent of involving married men in order to extend hurt to innocent families.

No!! It's high time one learn to respect people more especially married people, don't create division among the United.

Women who have been in a holy matrimony or still in there can understand the feeling of getting false accusations against each other outside their circles.

Therefore, we need to love each other not hate or hurt.

Our wisdom counsel then is let us all as women get a life and inspire each other.

The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) National Youth Chairman Gilbert Liswaniso says UPND is a 'rehabilitation party and values peace and unity'.

And Mr Liswaniso said among others joining the party if they were violent and involved in corrupt activities not any more in the ruling party.

He said Mr Hichilema as Head of State and President of UPND is committed to building a strong foundation for all his fellow citizens.

"President Hakainde Hichilema has a vision to see Zambians united but he will not shield those with corrupt activities but the law must take it's course" Mr Liswaniso said.

Speaking during a live programme dubbed the big hour on KBN TV with the discourse 'Matters affecting Youths in Zambia,Monday evening Mr Liswaniso said no one must destroy the country.

"As Youths we know what is good and bad.You can't chase any one all political parties are for the Zambian people.

As we go on others will move out of UPND because they are frustrated or unsatisfied and politics is about numbers"he reflected.

And Mr Liswaniso revealed that many in the country were afraid to join UPND in opposition for fear of losing a life or livelihoods by the brutal regime of Patriotic Front.

On developmental approach of UPND in government to the Zambian people:

Mr Liswaniso revealed that being a grass root mobiliser people from different walks of life are willing to explore development agenda and benefit.

"I encourage the young people to be productive Youths out there want to live a better life we can't run away from the fact that the cost of living is high but the positive strides by the government in 8 months are giving hope at the end of the day to everyone" he said.

And Mr Liswaniso stressed that President Hichlema has created enabling environment for every sector to thrive through decentralized resources at the local level for all to benefit.

On advising the Zambian opposition, Mr Liswaniso said it is prudent to criticize positively President Hichilema where he is slow or failing to do certain things.

"Don't abuse freedom of speech offer proper checks and balances avoid provocation" he said.

Meanwhile, in uplifting the message of President Hakainde Hichilema on not allowing his members to be the new thugs in town during his Press conference,Monday;

Mr Liswaniso said:

"Indeed no thug in town, no violence if you cannot manage leave for others it ends there".

A ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) councillor for Winda ward of Mangango Constituency Shabanyama has urged the people of Nalikwanda Constituency to vote for Nyambe Muyumbana as Mayor for Mongu District.

Councillor Shabanyama said Mr Muyambana is the only person to bring development in the area.

And he has described President Hichilema as a biggest new battery charging for development in the country.

"The biggest new battery who can work well to bring development in Western Province and Mongu in particular is Mr Muyumbana with President Hichilema who has already brought free education, enhanced constituency development fund, freedoms and liberties among other good things which are yet to come" he itemized.

The councillor demonstrated a scenario where one puts a new battery in a torch for light reflecting from a distance referring to the current leadership.

"I want to appreciate all the party structures for the work which contributed to President Hichilema being in state house.

When he took over from PF the country was not in good state but he is busy working on it with all the spanners available for it to be back to normal" he stressed.

"With the leadership of President Hichilema all is genuine"Councillor Shabanyama reflected.

The councillor joined on the campaign trail for Nyambe Muyumbana, led by the UPND National Youth Chairman Gilbert Liswaniso who is also the mobilisation chairperson.

Mongu residents will decide on 14 th April 2022 a Mayor to represent them for development agenda in the new dawn.

The by-election is necessitated following the demise of Nyambe Matakala in a fatal road accident on 24 th February 2022.

Participating political parties include PF and UPND.

Cabinet approves teachers recruitment guidelines

Cabinet has approved recruitment guidelines for 30,000 teachers and an advertisement is expected in the press next week, the Teaching Service Commission said yesterday.

In an interview, commission chairperson Daphne Chimuka said Cabinet approved the recruitment guidelines on Tuesday this week.

Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima is expected to announce the guidelines today.

“The advert is ready and all we are waiting for is for the minister to issue the statement, and once that is done, we will publish the advert in the newspapers,” Ms Chimuka said.

She said the employment of 30,000 teachers will be decentralised to districts, including the selection process.
