Today, we celebrate the enduring legacy of Black women who have fought tirelessly for our collective liberation.

Every morning, I wake up inspired by the beauty, strength, and resilience of Black women, and this stunning piece of art “Maya” by Michel Smith Boyd for captures that spirit perfectly.

I hope everyone is well rested after the holidays! My Thanksgiving holiday was filled with family, friends, food, rest and relaxation and a tiny bit of shopping! Honestly, I didn’t even open the shopping emails from retailers who sent multiple emails a day. I made two purchases at Old Navy because my kids are growing like weeds! That’s all.

Happy Friday friends! It’s been a crazy and wild seven months since we sold our home in Virginia. Even though it’s been a long process of relocating and building a new home in Texas, I wouldn’t change much about the experience.

We were blessed to sell our home in a couple of days, and write a contract for a new build in one of the hottest markets in the country a month later. The hand of God was all up and through these plans!

When I say that my steps are ordered, believe me! We are beyond blessed to have worked with an amazing real estate agent, too-notch builder, savvy mortgage broker and an uber professional title company! In their own special way, they performed yeoman’s work to make everything come together so well. They all individually and collectively kept me sane!

A coupe of days ago I closed on an amazing new home, and I am excited to bring you along on the journey. I have lots of ideas on how to perfect this home, so stay tuned!

I’m wearing green because it’s my favorite color, and I felt so empowered as I signed the paperwork to purchase my 8th home! I love buying and selling homes, but I think we’ll stick around here for a long time!😂

With all of the packing and moving, I didn’t get a chance to share my somewhat new console table styled for fall. Before I sold these sofas, I pulled out a lot of the remaining decor items and styled them up really quickly. 👉🏼Swipe to see the different looks:

Guess what? Although I have a full kitchen in the rental apartment, I came up with a lot of excuses as to why I couldn’t cook today! I’ll probably recycle all of them over the next couple of months, so I better hit this nice gym they have on the property!

BTW, I’m missing my SW Pewter Green island and all the updates I made to this kitchen over the past 4 years!

Family room vibes! Will definitely miss this view with all of the fall colors and textures. I can’t move on to Christmas since my time in this home is winding down. Forgive me, but you will get fall looks for the rest of the week (and maybe even next week).

It’s so hard to believe that in less than one month this house will be packed and moved. If you’ve been following me in my stories, you know that I’ve sold off a lot of things over the past week or so. Some may ask why I’m selling lightly used furniture? Well, if you must know…

No. 1: It costs a lot of money to move across country.
No. 2: The furniture doesn’t fit the new home.
No. 3: I am downsizing my home.
No. 4: Well, this is what I always do!

Anyways, there are a couple of things in this photo that have been sold. Do you know what they are?

Sharing another view of my bedroom makeover! This sitting area is one of the best self-care corners ever! It’s tucked away with just the right amount of coziness!

If I were to change anything, let me tell you what it would be: it would be a coffee station near the sitting area or right outside the owner’s bedroom.

After a couple of weeks of an empty guest room, I needed to kick things into high gear. I’m so thankful to for my guest room bedding refresh. The new Gap Home collection has some amazing essentials, pops of color, patterns and cozy comfort. Run, don’t walk over to Walmart to check out their new Gap Home collection.

For my guest room, I went with crisp white bedding with hints of denim and blush pink in my decorative pillows. I’m loving the vibe, and I can’t wait for my guests to arrive.

Throwback to my daughter’s bedroom makeover! This room has seen a couple of updates…specifically this chandelier and a new desk.

It has also been banged up by my daughter’s jumping, playing and snacking. Yep, I find more snack wrappers in this space than the kitchen. I gave up the fight several months ago and got her a wastebasket.

My deck refresh project is complete, and these custom outdoor drapes are the icing on the cake! I teased these bad boys for weeks!

Not only are they made of a Big Duck canvas (in a natural color), but used a weight in the hems to keep them stable. Oh, did I also mention the tie backs and the adjustable Velcro tab tops! 👉🏼👉🏼 to get a closeup of them!

She thought of every detail that I needed for these outdoor drapes, and I’m super happy with them.

Finally finished! I added pops of color to my covered deck for the summer, and I am loving the look. Thanks to who my summertime, festive deck refresh. All of these colorful pillows, pouf and tableware you see are from . It’s a whole vibe, and you could quite possibly see some color popping up inside my home for summer as well.

I’m ready to turn on some Old School R&B and get this party started. Are you with me? Oh yea!

Ok friends! You were so encouraging yesterday of me showing my powder room more despite my ability to capture the “perfect” shot. So today I am sharing my black and white themed bathroom that was completed last year when I finished my basement.

I’ve only shared it on the blog, and the pictures weren’t so great. I finally got around to styling the bathroom, so I decided to share it with you.

I picked all of the finishes for this bathroom, and I’m so happy with the way it turned out. I’m all about black and white, so this space makes me so happy.

Even though we don’t use it much, it’s still a space that I like to walk into and know that I designed this space all by myself!

I rarely show my powder room due to the the lack of natural light and space for photos. Today I thought I would give it a go and show my new artwork. I got this piece at almost two weeks ago. I love the wooden frame and it perfectly matches my other line art piece that is now on the adjacent wall.

Now that school is out, I’m hoping the kids will sleep in a little bit so I can be more productive. So, when reached out for us to try their pillows, I was too excited. I love good bedding and a sleeping child!😀

My son has been been sleeping an extra 2 hours this week, and I have been loving it. The ultra thin micro silicon polyester fiber in these pillows gives you the fluffiness and softness needed to keep even the most active little one down for a full 8-9 hours! Yea!! I’m so excited for this week! The kids are out of school on tomorrow, and couldn’t be happier! I am looking forward to getting an extra hour of sleep everyday. 💤💤

If you followed along in my stories this weekend, you know that I’m wrapping up a couple of projects soon. The owner’s bedroom and my upstairs loft area. Half way through the year, and my project list is almost checked off. It feels so good to a goal oriented type of person like me to get it done!

Now, I just need to wrap these projects up and start enjoying my summer!☀️

Happy Hump Day my friends! Remember the online model home auction that I participated in a couple of weeks ago? Well, this gorgeous chair I scooped up has been appropriately placed in my office! Look at the details on the back of this chair? That strap is giving me life! The front side is a quilted leather, and I love how stylish it looks in my office.

Out of curiosity, I decided to look this chair up online to see if I got a good deal. Well, I got an amazing deal. This Herlene Industrial Loft Quilted Brown Leather Chair retails for over $1000. My instincts (based on my memory from visiting the model home and seeing this chair) were to keep bidding until I got to $375 because I knew it was an amazing, quality piece.

So, the lesson is to pay attention to your instincts and never pay full price!

I haven’t refreshed my bookshelves yet, but I plan to do it soon! Stay tuned for that!

Who’s ready for a picnic? When the weather clears up, I am going to have a nice lunchtime picnic on my deck. How cute is this picnic basket I picked up from some time ago?

Remember these new chairs I picked up from . You probably saw them when I hauled them in my stories last week. This is where I share in realtime all of the new pieces I’m buying for my home.

I got a great deal of these. I even discovered that one was marked down even further, so I called and got another $62 off the total. So these gorgeous chairs were roughly $120 each (original price $395 each). I love a great deal!

If you’ve been following along in my stories, then you know that this World Market Everett console table has been sold. I saw in my community’s Facebook Yard Sale group that someone was looking to purchase a pre-loved one. I immediately reached out to her since I was going to list mine really soon. It was a match, so ta-da she has a new home.

I have truly loved styling his table over the past 3.5 years. She has served me well, and I’m looking forward to bringing in a new console table soon.

I’m also releasing some other things in my life and making room for the new things. It’s my season, and I’m excited for what God is doing in my life. Come on Jesus!

Now that the front porch is refreshed, it’s time to focus on the covered deck! I restored my Article Malou chairs using the linseed oil, and now it’s time to tackle this eucalyptus sectional sofa. Check out my stories from yesterday if you want to see how the chairs turned out.

My plan is to wake up early tomorrow morning, and get busy with cleaning and applying teak oil to this baby. As some of you know, I contemplated selling it and upgrading to a solid teak sofa. I then realized that my taxes (state and federal) are due by Monday, so I quickly ordered some products from Amazon to restore this sectional.

I think I have at least one more season with this piece, but it’s possible that I may sell it later this fall instead of buying a cover for it. Stay tuned because I reserve the right to change my mind!

I do have some planned updates for this space, so stay tuned. I need to give the entire deck a deep clean, and I will start that process this weekend.

Throwback to spring 2020 when I decided to give this little space a makeover! This was truly a made me do it moment, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. It has become one of my favorite places to hang out.

In addition to eating dinner in the space, I love journaling while having my morning coffee. I spread out my daily devotional and multiple journals, and I go to work on writing down my thoughts, goals and things I’m grateful for. So, in essence, a little of my self-care routine happens in this little corner….especially now that the kiddos are back in school 4 days a week.

I do have other self-care spaces, but this is one of my most used over the past few months.

I was inspired by Pinterest to create this DIY amber glass Christmas ornaments. I turned basic glass ornaments into amber glass ornaments using Pebeo red, yellow and brown paints along with a lightening medium... and it turned out pretty well!
