This week marks the 140th anniversary of one of the most tragic events in Colorado history. The Crested Butte mine disaster occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 1884, leaving 59 men and boys dead, and many unanswered questions. Over the next few days, we'll take a look back at the disaster and pay tribute to those who perished working in the many mines in our region. ⛏
