In Episode 21, we’re covering a complicated case, in that the evidence, despite looking like an open and shut investigation, was incredibly hard to come by.

What makes the case even more complicated, is that there was seemingly no motive, and despite multiple witnesses being at the scene, there was no explanation for the actions that had taken place...

If you’ve listened to our recent episodes, 16 and 19, you’ll have heard two examples of horrific serial killers, who targeted vulnerable victims.

Episode 20 is a little different to usual. This Discussing The Evidence episode talks through evidence which links serial killers Dean Corll and John Wayne Gacy, suggesting they were both part of a more large-scale crime organisation.

We have now covered two of the most heinous case studies in modern America history, having given a voice to the victims who lost their lives at the hands of Dean Corll and John Wayne Gacy.

This ‘round-up’ episode shows the amount of evidence gathered in each case, suggesting their involvement in a pa******le ring so huge it’s difficult to comprehend.

Please watch or listen with caution.

In Episode 19, we cover another serial killer case.

In Episode 16, we discussed the horrific murders of 28 young boys who were brutally abused and tortured before being killed by Dean Corll.

Today’s case is equally as heavy, as we discuss the murders of more young boys, this time at the hands of John Wayne Gacy, also known as The Killer Clown.

In Episode 9 we discussed the unsolved case of the Cowden Family Murders. A tragic case, based purely on location. ...

Today’s post is a little different to usual, it’s Annie’s birthday! 🎈

We have so much to thank Annie for, she’s the mastermind behind all the tech, she edits each and every episode, creates all the short clips, schedules the episodes and gives me free merch 🤣🤣

She certainly deserves a day off to celebrate and we’ll be sure to document our belated celebrations when we get round to it! 🥳🥂

In Episode 17, we cover the case of Grace Millane.

On the 26th of October, 2018, Grace touched down in Peru, ready to begin her adventure of a lifetime, travelling the world solo. She documented her travels across social media, so loved ones could keep up to date with where she was and what she’d been up to.

By December, Grace had travelled to New Zealand, a place she’d always wanted to go. On the 1st December, Grace arrived in Auckland, just a day before her birthday. Tragically, it was in an attempt to make birthday plans via Tinder that led to her murder.

As always, the focus in this case is on Grace and telling her story. This episode also discusses the prevalence of the rough s*x defence and how men are getting away with the most heinous, manipulative, planned, pre-meditated crimes by saying that females were “asking for it”.

The Houston Mass Murders.

In this gripping episode, we delve into one of the most chilling and harrowing cases in American history - yet one that you may not have heard of already.

Between 1970 and 1973, Houston, Texas, became the killing-ground of one of the nation’s most prolific serial killers, Dean Corll, infamously known as “The Candy Man.”

With the aid of two teenage accomplices, David Brooks and Elmer Wayne Henley, Corll lured, tortured, and murdered at least 28 young boys.

Join us as we unravel the details of this horrific case, exploring the lives of the victims and the shocking discovery that finally brought their reign of terror to an end.

In episode 15, we discuss two cases in which social media was at the core of the events which unfolded.

We’ve already mentioned the Dark Web, but in these cases we see that even innocently using social media can lead to someone’s death.

Despite social media being at the heart of many of our experiences and part of our routine, people are still intrinsically fascinated by the unknown, and the depths in which these platforms can reach.

Beth talks us through the calculated murder of Alex Rodda, and how the power of friendship helped track down and prosecute the offender.

Annie then talks through the incredibly sad case of Sania Khan, who was shot and killed by her ex husband.

The world of social media can be a dangerous place, so please always ensure you’re taking precautions and think about how you interact online.

It’s Monday, which means we have a new episode out!

In this episode, we’re discussing evidence in a broad manner, talking through the unique nature of crime scenes, the thought that goes into planning and carrying out crime scene investigation, before goes off on one about some of the added factors that must be considered when getting ‘suited up’ before heading to a scene 🤣

As always, there will be true crime cases added in there for context and the pair delve a little into the history of forensic science.

But before all that, prepare for the lowdown on our lives after a manic couple of weeks with work 😂

This is Joshua Ribera and his mum, Alison Cope.

Joshua Ribera had found his happiness, his passion and his love for life, right before he was fatally stabbed at just 18 years of age.

Joshua was an incredible soul, which you can feel when his mother talks about all he achieved in such a short space of time.

Alison continues to share her son, also known as Depzman’s story, and it’s an honour to do our bit to help her do exactly that.

Episode Twelve is another one of our favourite “True Crime Eyes & Ears” where we discuss everything we’ve been watching or listening to this week.

‘Secrets of a murder detective’ is a new true crime documentary where every episode covers a different crime.

sits down with investigating officers to talk us through the cases in detail. With 30 years of police experience and 12 of those as a top murder detective, Steve takes us through the twists and turns of the cases with first hand experience. Steve is also an author of two books and has recently started a true crime podcast “Murder investigation for crime writers” which helps writers achieve authenticity in their stories.

We also talk about ‘The Footballer Fraudster’, exploring the life of Medi Abalima, a former footballer who took the identities of a premier league player, a rapper, MI6 agent and a Navy Seal! These are the lengths he went to to con his victims.

We dont like to give away any spoilers in these episodes so you can still enjoy watching but the Netflix film “What Jennifer did” is another good watch as she becomes the focus of a captivating criminal case…

In today’s episode, Annie and Beth cover another case study.

Episode 11 unpacks the fatal and brutal stabbing of young teen, Brianna G**y. Briana was just 16 when she was murdered by two perpetrators, both of which were just 15 themselves.

This was a premeditated attack and led to an outpouring of support across the UK in memory of Brianna. Her mother, grieving and struggling to come to terms with the events, has been campaigning tirelessly for mindfulness to be taught within schools and for large social media giants to take culpability for the content they allow on their platforms.

This one was particularly difficult to cover for the Annie and Beth, which they also discuss as the episode unfolds.

We can’t believe Episode 10 is out already 🤯

In this episode, we’re ‘Discussing the Evidence...’.
This segment delves into different areas of forensic science in more detail, in this case, forensic botany.

Hear us discuss what forensic botany is and how it can be used to aid investigations, before talking through a couple of case studies to provide some context to the evidence.

The case studies referenced have been directly taken from Dr Patricia Wiltshire’s latest book, The Natural History of Crime: Case Studies In Death And The Clues Nature Leaves Behind.

🚨 Episode 9, out now! 🚨

Today’s episode discusses the horrific murders of the Cowden Family.

This case took place in September of 1974, just a couple of years prior to The Pottery Cottage Murders which we covered in episode 5. The Cowden family Murders still remain unsolved.

The case discusses the events which unfolded over Labor Day weekend in 1974, when a family of four left for a camping trip and disappeared into thin air...

In this episode, Beth & Annie introduce another new segment!!

This segment is called ‘Discussing the Evidence’ and in this episode the pair discuss eye witness testimony as form of evidence, its reliability, cases which have used eye witness statements as one of the key pieces of evidence at trial and the statistics behind the exhibits.

The duo already have some different types of evidence they’d like to cover in this segment, but feel free to comment if there’s something specific you’d like them to discuss in a future episode.

🎙️Episode 7 - out now! 🎧

In this episode, Annie & Beth talk through the discovery of John Wainright’s body and how the police officers and forensic scientists worked incredibly hard to give John the respect and justice he deserved. The episode shows that in order for a crime to be solved, evidence has to be analysed by scientists across the country, in order to piece together the truth of the story.

In this case, forensic odontology was essential in both confirming John’s identity and determining what had happened to him before his death.

To see the bodycam footage and evidence in more detail, watch Series 4, Episode 1 - Forensics: The Real CSI on BBC iPlayer.

In this episode, we introduce to you a brand new segment - Your true crime eyes & ears, where we discuss things we’ve watched, listened to or read recently.

With all the controversy surrounding the compelling true story featured in the Netflix drama Baby Reindeer, we discuss stalking and the complexities between human relationships and evidence when assessing/dealing with incidents of stalking. We then discuss an ITV documentary, which delves into multiple cases of stalking and harassment, showing how victims and families are campaigning for change into stalking law and prosecution.

Hopefully Episode 6 will provide more of an insight into the nuances of stalking relationships and the difficulties in convictions against stalking offenders.
