A common question among metalheads with a million and one different answers. Here is what it means to us, how it has helped shape us, and what we have in mind for the future. Metal is more than just a genre of music. It's a global subculture with almost half a century of history behind it. Despite years of being cast in a negative light by the mass media, conservatives and religious zealots, Metal
has changed lives and even saved lives and continues to do so today. It has empowered those of us who simply didn't fit in anywhere else, and encouraged us all to embrace the unique qualities that define who we are and set us apart from 'the crowd.' That pride and sense of self was every bit as important as the community that embraced and empowered us. The music in and of itself is not what defines us, but the idea(l)s and the messages that are conveyed through it. The courage to stand up for who you are and what you believe in, and to remain steadfast even when the world stands against you. To embrace the outcast and the underdog. To realize that we are not alone, even in the face of adversity, and that we do in fact have strength in numbers. It is without a doubt a community unlike any other, the only one with a unique gesture that signifies solidarity, and it is definitely something to be proud to be a part of. Unfortunately, over the years, the sense of community has become fractured and divided. A disgusting mob mentality has replaced individual empowerment, and it is slowly but surely eroding all the positive aspects that are the very foundation of this community. Looking up to those who inspire and influence you is inevitable, but there is no one person that is better than another. We are uniquely who we are, and that is and always has been good enough. This is what Metal is to us. If you agree with us, we ask you to join us in promoting this message in order to bring about a renewed sense of community! We're constantly busy working on things to help push this campaign (for lack of a better term), so updates may be few and far between, but they will be posted as often as we have them. So add us, follow us and keep an eye out for those updates and announcements soon enough! And in the meantime, Help us give back by paying it forward.
