South East Sound "The Rock of South London" Southern Radio, later renamed South East Sound, was an unlicensed radio station which played rock music from around 1980 to 1986.

Rock, along with other specialist genres was conspicuous by its absence on mainstream radio at that time, and this station filled that void for nearly 6 years. It operated on a Sunday on medium wave from various locations across South and South East London, and only closed when the authorities made it clear they wouldn't tolerate it being on air. It was a happy era, marking the start of a radio ca

reer for many presenters, including me. I've created this group to celebrate that station, the people and the times. Southeastsound actually still has an internet presence to this day, but since the demise of Live365, it's once again silent. If you enjoyed the kind of music we played, you can still here Ray Adams every Sunday at 10pm on Susy Radio 103.4 FM across Sussex and Surrey and also online at http://susyradio.com. You can access the website at:

But be warned, there isn't much there at the moment.. I hope there will be soon.
