The music scene in San Diego seemed rudderless from 2010 through 2012. The hardcore scene was past its prime, and the surf punk scene was yet to move into town. However, there were a few bands around at that time making some of the best music to come out of San Diego.
Postmark Records is doing something today that most labels would call a crazy, bad investment. Our goal as a label, however, is to always to bring you music that we think is absolutely amazing and likely that you may have never heard before.
Postmark Records signed Meseta - a band from those “lost” San Diego years. The band has not been around in a decade. They never released any of their music back in that time, but they had a cult following and always played to a packed room. It was one of the bands that inspired us to create this very label. Over the past decade, we along with many others who had “somehow” downloaded their music have continued to play them on our private playlists. We signed this band for those of you who loved this band then, still love them today, as well as those we know will love them into the future.
It is our hope and wish that this new generation of listeners love Meseta as much as we do. However, note that these are not 3 minute radio rock or pop songs – Meseta sings anthems, ballads, and simply deep songs.
Postmark will release the first EP from Meseta, followed by a full length album, filled with music more then 10 years old. We are also excited because we have talked to both members of this two-piece band and possibly talked them into writing some new music. This is huge for those of us who miss them.
On Friday November 18th, we’ll be releasing the 3 song EP from Meseta. We know there are a lot of people out there that will be stoked for this release, and we hope all the new listeners find this band as amazing as we do.
