UPDATE 3/30/23 SHE HAS BEEN FOUND AND CAUGHT! HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR PAWESOME NEIGHBORS.

3/26/23 Lupita has escaped and is missing. She is a very timid and shy girl. She escaped during her arrival at the Sanctuary tonight. Lupita had been in foster but came to the Sanctuary so she could go be spayed in the morning. When we got her out of the van she popped the leash and took off. She is microchipped and wearing a collar with tags. If you see her please call us at 765-969-4782 or 765-994-9058 or 765-977-2460. We followed her for awhile but lost sight of her. She was last seen at 1700 Stone Road Liberty Indiana. Please don't chase her as she will just run. If seen call or text one of the numbers.

UPDATE 3/27/23: She has been spotted making friends with dogs in the 4000 block of Fouts Rd but runs when she sees a person.

UPDATE 3/28/23: sadly no new sightings reported today.

UPDATE 3/29/23: She was spotted in the field on Mitchell road near the Sanctuary.

Love it!
UPDATE
Thanks to all of the donations from gofundme, t-shirt sales, private donations, the auction and our surprise big check from LasikPlus we were able to put half down to secure the property and finance the rest. We are staying and all of the residents are safe. We can continue our mission to save senior, geriatric, disabled and special needs animals. We did great at the My Furry Valentine event this year. We had a total of 6 cats and 4 dogs adopted. One dog Mimi had been with us for over 3 years. It was also at the event that LasikPlus Cincinnati surprised us with a check for 21,000$ to help save the Sanctuary. We are already working on improving the enclosures for the animals. We have lots of fencing projects. So now we are looking for people who would like to donate fencing or fencing materials. We also need a couple of pig shelters built or bought for our rescue piggers.

Hello dearest friends! Alice says a huge thank you to everyone who has been donating, sharing our posts, buying shirts, and sharing loving and positive thoughts about the sanctuary! We knew we had a great community, but the outpouring of support has all of us humans tearing up! 🥹💜🐾

We wanted to update you all on the current situation. Due to the generousity of all of you, we are optimistic that we will be able to stay where we are! Nothing is definite yet, so we still need you all to donate and/or share this fundraiser. With your support and backing we feel the sanctuary will be able to continue its mission in rescuing senior and special needs animals in our unique environment.

We can’t say it enough, THANK YOU for your support. We hope you know how much it means to Shell, Becky, our board of directors, volunteers, and of course our animals. We love you all! 💜🐾💜🐾💜

Hello dear friends. We found out today that there will most likely be an offer made to buy the sanctuary property, and it also looks as though they have no interest in renting it to us. The attorney handling all of this says he needs an offer from our board now. Sadly we do not have enough yet. We are working on meeting with the bank and hope that we can figure something out quickly, but it is all uncertain. We want to keep this fundraiser going so that we can purchase another property if we lose this one. We will have to set up somewhere temporarily and we do have a couple of leads on that, however they are not certain either. You guys have been so supportive over these last 5 years and we wanted you all to know what is going on as it all unfolds. You all are part of Liberty Acres. You engage in our daily posts, you share, you donate much needed items, you volunteer your time, and donate monetarily. It all means so much to Shell and Becky, our animals, and the board. You have helped us continue to do what we do. There are not enough words to describe how much your support has meant. Please continue to help us exist, even if it’s not on Mitchell Rd. We love you all. 💜🐾

Here is the link to the property in case anyone is interested in putting in an offer and renting to us.

Dear friends,
We have been so grateful for you and all our fans and supporters since this unique sanctuary was founded. Our founder, Gary Sigler, purchased this property with the express purpose of creating an animal sanctuary. Since 2017, this vision has come to fruition and grown to serve hundreds of animals, placing most in forever homes, offering refuge and safety for others, and saving many destined for euthanasia. We currently are home to 36 senior and special needs dogs, 15 cats, 10 kittens, 3 pigs, 2 goats, an urban rooster, and rehabilitated wildlife.
Since Gary’s passing, the sanctuary’s future has become unsettled. He had told our executive director and board members that our organization could continue operation on the site and merely take over the payments for the moderate balance of the mortgage (around $80,000), in the event of his death. However, Gary did not have a will or a transfer on death deed or anything in writing at the time of his sad passing. This has left us in the position of dealing with a small group of heirs who are not direct descendants. Most have visited the sanctuary and expressed their wish for Gary’s vision and the sanctuary’s mission to continue. However, now it turns out, not all the heirs have agreed to donate their share of the equity in the property. This would require the property to be sold at market value; it has appraised for $206,000.
In order to continue in our mission of serving our senior and special needs animals we have 3 options:
1. In order to stay where we are:
a. Best Case Scenario: we find a guarantor to help us secure a loan for paying
off the current mortgage plus buy out the one heir; the cost of this option
is about 105,000.
b. Second Best Case Scenario: we find a friendly landlord to purchase and
rent us the property; the cost of this option is $206,000.
2. The property sells to someone else, and we move the sanctuary. We would need
to find a friendly landlord to purchase and rent us property OR someone with
land who is willing to rent us space. Costs depend on what’s available.
3. The property sells to someone else, and we move our operations to foster homes. This would result in some of our sanctuary citizens to be tragically
euthanized. We have a few individuals who are completely un-fosterable and unadoptable with literally nowhere else to go.
Please contact us! Your support, ideas, and input are welcomed and needed as we navigate this critical time in our efforts to continue to exist and provide sanctuary for the neediest animals.
Thank you so very much from the board of directors of Liberty Acres and all the animals!

Mr Jenkins would make a great family dog. He is a big goofball around 7 years old. He is ok with most dogs but needs a home without cats or chickens. Jenkins is a fun loving silly guy. To adopt go to www.libertyacresunited.com and submit your application.

Farley is a cute Beagle boy who would do best with older kids. He is ok with other dogs but not willing to share food with them. He is around 9 years old. He loves to snuggle under the blankies especially on these cold winter days. To adopt go to www.libertyacresunited.com and submit your application.

Miss Mia is a sassy senior Chow mix around 14 years old. Don't let that number fool you this girl doesn't believe she's old. Mia is a dog who likes to do her own thing. She gets along with most other dogs but doesn't care for snuggling with them. Mia is hard of hearing but it doesn't slow her down. She can run and keep up with the best of them. She would prefer a home without kids as she's not one to be pawed at. If your interested in adopting go to www.libertyacresunited.com and submit your application.

Handsome Byron is still waiting for his forever home. He is an Australian Shepherd with one eye. He is a lovebug with people of all ages. Byron is around 10 years. He is ok with other animals but he is bossy. He currently lives with other dogs and cats though he would be happy to be the only pet. He loves his head rubbed and nuzzles everyone he meets. Animal Care Alliance Has Bunnies!!! The girls pictured together are Amethyst & Ruby. Miss Iris is the single bunny in her own kennel. The 2 girls are very friendly and super soft and just over a year old. They are very bonded and they need to go to a home together. Our Bunnies are $50 to adopt with an approved application. Because of the girls bond we are doing Adopt 1 get 1 Free.
Miss Iris is the darker bigger bunny and she is 3 to 4 years old. She is not as personable but is friendly to take food and care for her. Iris was a house bunny so she was used to free roaming and using a litter box. Her Adoption fee is $50 with an Approved Application.
All 3 bunnies reside here at the clinic in our front lobby. Visitors are welcome to come meet them during our open hours Monday thru Friday 9 to 4. You can stop in to fill out an Application or you can go to our website at

Meet Sweet Tabitha! She is one of the most gentle loving girls you will meet. Tabitha came to us almost 4 years ago with her babies. She was the best Mom ever and continues to Mother Littles and any other cat in need. All her babies were adopted long ago & she is still patiently waiting. Tabitha does have an auto immune issue. We thought when she came to us she was hurting herself but that wasn't the case after some testing. She gets a shot to her help every few months and it is not very costly. Stress does play a factor. We moved her from our smaller kitten room (where we were afraid she stressed over trying to help all the babies) to our much larger community cat room with cats 6 months & older. She has adapted quite well there and her shots are farther apart. A home of her own could quite possibly eliminate the need for them but we can't promise that.
Tabitha is often found in a cat tower snuggled in nice and cozy or a window seat. If you have either to offer with a lap to snuggle in we are sure she would share all her love with you!
Tabitha is fully Vetted and patiently waiting for a home of her own. Her Adoption Fee is $50 with an Approved Adoption Application.
Please feel free to stop in our clinic during open hours to meet Tabitha and her friends and to fill out an Adoption Application.
You can also go to our website to fill out an application. Once an application has been approved we can make arrangements for a meet and greet for just about any time convenient to both of us.
