Update 🤗 Adopted ❣️

***ADOPTION POST***

This absolute beauty turned up around the embassy area a few weeks ago, she's been vet checked and neutered and now is looking for a kind and patient person to take her into her forever home. She is only around 9 months old and would love a warm and cosy bed inside for the winter..

If you think you can offer her a loving home, please get in contact ❤️ Charlene Sciberras

Bird trapping for scientific research is in fact allowed under the directive (the so-called derogation). The Court found that "The Finches Project does not establish a genuine research purpose and hence cannot be considered as being justified under the derogation of Article 9(1)(b) of the Directive."

In layman's terms, the Government of Malta failed to provide a genuine scientific purpose that would justify the derogation.

Second attempt by Maltese government to derogate from the EU ban on bird trapping is once again defeated in the European Court of Justice

Time for Change welcomes the news about updated regulations on animal keeping and we look forward to reading these updates in full. In particular, we welcome the addition of regulating the petting of and direct interaction with animals in zoos, an issue that we fought so hard for. This petting and direct interaction has been banned in numerous European countries and has been found to have a negative effect on the welfare of the animals involved. There is no place for these practices in modern zoos, which should focus on conservation. We hope that the regulations as they are published will not allow for loopholes where irresponsible owners are allowed to continue these unethical practices. We have also been keeping an eye on the new pet sitting and grooming laws, and while we believe that these regulations are a step in the right direction, we will continue to put pressure on the authorities to set out better requirements in the legislation, including training.

Case in point 👇🏻

A female approximately 18 month old bully-type dog was found outside, Animal Welfare were called and dog is neither chipped nor injured and hence she was not picked up. The person who found her spoke to several sanctuaries but they can’t take her in.. what’s next? Does he put her back in the streets?

We are already facing this each and every single day, our aim is to not to euthanize any dogs but to not have any puppies at all. We look forward to continue working together on this so that all dogs will not continue to suffer.

In the meantime, if anyone can foster her, please message us 🙏🏻.

Time For Change

We have created this group as we are really concerned with the animal welfare in Malta and we are working together to help improve the system. We were wondering if you would like to help us? Please inform us with pictures and information of animal cruelty being done in Malta, this will give us more of an advantage when it comes to presenting our point about the animal welfare system to the parliament in Malta. It needs to change as soon as possible!

We are a voluntary group and we each have our full-time personal jobs, so we do this in our free time. To further help us cope with the amount of work that we have, on some occasions you can contact a couple of people yourself. Below you will find the contact details of various organisations and people:
