We are an independent low-budget movie production. The fantasy series "Clíodhna - The Witch of Gleann an Phéine" is our first big project.

Magic depicted in the movie is based on ideas from Wiccan and Runic magic and ritual. The first part “Blood in the Snow” was published in May and the second part “Truth from Beyond” is almost ready and will appear in late summer 2018. The Clíodhna movies and teasers can be seen in low resolution on YouTube and can be purchased on DVD in full resolution with a broader range of subtitle sets and extras. We do not do this as a business, but as a hobby! All participants in the movies are volunteers and we use OpenSource software for video and sound editing, because our budget is very limited. The income from selling DVDs doesn’t make us rich, but is used to cover expenses for costumes and equipment. Tuu mukaan elokuvaharrastukseen!

Olemme Korpilahden elokuvapaja ry, ja aloitamme uuden suomenkielisen, keskiaikaan sijoittuvan fiktiivisen elokuvan. Kuvaukset on tarkoitus toteuttaa 2023 elo-/syyskuun aikana Keski-Suomen alueella.
Etsimme elokuvaan ensisijaisesti avustajia eli henkilöitä, jotka ovat kuvauksissa tapahtumien taustalla, omia askareitaan tekeviä hahmoja. Hae siis rohkeasti mukaan ja varsinkin, jos omaat vanhojen keskiaikaisten menetelmien (käsi)työtaitoja.
Meillä on vielä myös muutama puherooli tarjolla!

Jos siis olet kiinnostunut elokuvan teosta ja näyttelemisestä, sekä ehkä haluat lisätietoa toimimisesta osana kuvausryhmää, olet todennäköisesti juuri etsimämme henkilö.

Korpilahden elokuvapaja ry on pieni ja ketterä elokuvan tekemisestä innostunut ja jo usean elokuvan verran kokemusta omaava tiimi. Toimimme vapaaehtoisten voimin, talkoohengessä.

Cliodhna IX Samhain

I'm dedicating this review to our pagans down under, and in the southern hemisphere, who will have Samhain in May.

Cliodhna continues to delight me, and is evolving with each episode. The special effects are basic, but the artistic choices are so subtle and well timed, that visuals look classy.

The philisophical concepts of dichotomies, and the human tendancy to look for an adversary are explored.

As the pagan revival is a relatively new movement in history, this is quite pertinent, as many of us are shedding black and white habitual thinking.

I really appreciated the inclusion of Goddess Arianrhodh, the Welsh moon Goddess, especially in the context of Samhain.

This is really the only piece of visual entertainment that goes this deep with pagan mysticism and philosophy.

Filming of Clíodhna 9 "Samhain" comes to an end. One of the last shots to be made was Clíodhna walking through Caer Arianrhod on her way to the otherworld. Luckily this scene could be filmed inside (outside it's really cold) with a self-made green screen.

While still busy with post-production of Clíodhna 8 "The Raven", HakalaFilm already started shooting for Clíodhna 9 "Samhain". In this episode Clíodhna will travel into the part of the Otherworld where the souls of the deceased reside. Here Clíodhna's astral body meets the old witch Fionnula in the Realm of the Dead (side note: we actually filmed this on a graveyard).

Independent movie-making in the woods of Finland

Living in the breathtaking nature of Central Finland as well as a shared fascination for fantasy stories inspired us to start a movie project - thus the idea to the Clíodhna movies was born. We started shooting “Clíodhna - the Witch of Gleann an Phéine” in January 2018 on locations in Horkka and Leustu near Korpilahti. It is a fantasy movie series about a young witch in a medieval/celtic setting. Magic depicted in the movie is based on ideas from Wiccan and Runic magic and ritual.
