It comes as Christina Gabbitas won a Point of Light Award for her voluntary work and for launching the Children's Literature Festival.

Sounds Fun Singers Seasonal Concert
A singer's group is hosting their seasonal concert at St Chad's Church in Campleshon Road on Friday 8th December, intending to spread some festive cheer collect funds for Age UK York's Keep Your Pet Service.
Sounds Fun Singers have been running for 12 years, and have previously performed at York Railway Station along with several local choirs to raise funds for SASH, which helps to prevent young people from becoming homeless in the city.
Averil Rushton from Sounds Fun Singers explained they wanted the concert to promote some festive cheers as well as raise vital funds.

Teenager Saves Man from Bridge in York
A teenager has been awarded a Yorkshire Young Achievers Award for saving the life of a man on a York bridge.
19-year-old Owen Jeffers was on a night out when he happened across a man behaving oddly on Ouse Bridge.
Owen was able to convince the man down from the parapet and leave him in the care of police.
