Jitsi Meet is a secure, open-source Zoom alternative that if free and you can even use to live stream with a little bit of tinkering. I'm going to test it out soon and give you the scoop here!

You know with my side life as Liberty Librarian, I am really interested in data privacy. So much that I'm getting a doctorate in education and planning a dissertation on data privacy in libraries. Well, I was doing digging about more secure ways of doing live streaming and found a newish open-source Zoom alternative that you can also set up to host your live streams. It is called Jitsi Meet and it is open source, free, and you can meet with up to 50 people on it. I also found a way to do livestreaming with it. I mean, it doesn't have ALL the bells and whistles of Streamyard (which I love) but FREE is great for folks starting out. Oh, and did I mention it uses end-to-end encryption (except on Firefox - what is up with that?)! You can also host on your own server to make it extra, extra secure and you can control your own content. I'll post a link here, but also in the comments a couple of videos on how to stream with it. Cheers!

Hi gang! I only have a few more weeks of radiation therapy (hoping for superpowers!) and then I'll be on the road to recovery. I'm thinking I will do a Halloween Liberty Librarian special if you are game? I'd like to slowly do a bit more shows and then next year get back into it. What do you say? I've missed you all!
