Mission
Our mission is to promote travel and tourism to Klickitat County and to showcase the variety of fun and adventure that can be had while visiting our beautiful State of Washington. We have developed this page to accompany our guide - specifically to facilitate discussion on travel and tourism by introducing you to local gems you may have missed. In doing so, we hope you'll plan to visit ou
r friendly county. take a hike, experience the night skies, create some art, taste our huckleberry pie, in short, make some lasting memories. There's truly something here for everybody - unless you love pollution and skyscrapers and crime. If we are to make the most of this medium for the tourism industry, our page cannot become a medium for advertising. We wouldn’t use it that way ourselves and it is important that others don’t try to do so. Continuous references to particular businesses or products will not make for interesting conversation. That’s strictly advertising and no-one will be taken in. Fans will quickly lose interest and go elsewhere. Here are a few simple guidelines to help ensure this doesn't happen:
• Please contribute in a relevant way. If there’s a conversation about favorite coffee houses, it’s OK to say: “Golden Coyote Coffee in Goldendale serves the best cup o' joe ever!"
But if the conversation is about coffee houses, it’s not OK to jump in and promote your (non-related) business.
• Use the discussion forum to start relevant conversations. For example, if you have an event coming up that will interest fans, feel free to post it. Telling us about the Goldendale Demolition Derby is a positive contribution and we appreciate that. Here’s a good way to draw attention to it:
“Why not come and join us in Goldendale for the Demolition Derby in July? While you're at it, stay for Community Days and the classic car show downtown on the same weekend!"
•No politics please! Our purpose is to promote travel and tourism from White Salmon to Goldendale and that’s what the fans want to talk about too. If you want to talk about politics, there are lots of politics fan pages and groups elsewhere on Facebook. Stick to these guidelines and we can all look forward to many lively conversations in the future. If we find that the guidelines are being infringed and conversations are suffering or being de-railed, we’ll alert the person posting the inappropriate comments and, if it becomes necessary, we may even intervene to prevent it happening. That’s not something we want to do, so we ask you to ensure that your postings add to the conversation. After all, that’s what makes Facebook the success it is. We just want to say hello from Klickitat County! Facebook is such a fantastic place for us to say hello. This is why we like to join in discussions on other pages or groups discussing visiting the unparalleled beauty that is Klickitat County.. If we think our input will be beneficial for both the people and the group itself, we want to engage and supply relevant content and information – all about our home. Our sole aim is to share information and tips about vacationing in our beautiful state of Washington. If you’re wondering why we’ve joined in any of your group discussions, and you want to know more about us and why we’ve popped in to say hello, please feel free to contact us. And, of course, if there are any specific guidelines or conditions that you wish us to adhere to when interacting with your page/group, please just shout and we'll be more than happy to comply with these.
