Well my birth name is Edwin Perez, I was born to a single mother on January 28, 1981, in Chicago Illinois, my life has been a difficult one if I may, because of the fact that I never had a father in my life to teach me right from wrong, my mom was always struggling to give us everything that she could, but the situation just got harder for her being a single mother of 5 kids, I cant remember much
of my childhood, because when I was very young I accidentally took some of my mothers heart pills that ended my life, but as the story goes, my mother just wouldn't let her 3rd child go. By the age of 8 I started to hang out with the wrong crowd and eventually ended up in the street gang, but this was also the age were my passion for music started to develop, all because of one song, that song was called "Gangster Lean" by "D.R.S." every since I heard that song I took an Interest in writing my own music, determined to do whatever it took to get recognized, even though I had no experience in anything of that nature, all I ever wanted was to be noticed by the world as a good artist, for me it was never about fortune nor fame, because I new in my heart that my situation wasn't all that bad, and there was people out there who needed more help than what I did, as the years went by I got more and more involved with the street gangs and eventually I stopped writing music, I had giving up on life and had no hope towards the future. By the age of 15, I had experienced many good and bad things from being in the streets, It was after my 20s that I had decided to tell my stories through music, so that the younger generation don't go through the same things that I went through, after 12+ year as a gang member I finally decided to get out and moved away, that's when everything in my life started getting better and brighter, I started to write music again,Now many people know me as "Portorico" President and C.E.O. of "In Your Face Productions" a company in witch I began to build. I.Y.F Productions was founded on August 10th of 2009 and its located in the state of Michigan, and I operate out of my own home for the time being, I try to give many people the opportunity to come to the studio and make some music, just so that they can stay out the streets, and because it makes me feel good to know that I'm helping out in some way. My plans for this New Year is to continue making music that people can really relate to, and to continue helping others in any shape or form, I want to take the time to thank everyone who has shown me that support, that love and that respect that I think should be given to all Artist & Non Artist alike...Sincerly your friend Portorico
