Steve Albini brought Mission of Burma to Europe for the very time in 2002 (we never got there in our first incarnation 1979-1983). After that, Shellac brought us on tour with them and here we are at Primavera Sound in Barcelona. I had walked into town earlier that day and decided on a sea-side restaurant for a group dinner. To my relief, everybody enjoyed it! Here were, working our way down the shore. I took the snap. It really was a great time. Thanks Steve! (today is his birthday).

July 7,1993.Mia Zapata,fierce frontwoman with the Seattle punk band The Gits,was found r***d and strangled in the Central District of the city.She was 27.The Seattle music community, including its most famous bands – Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden – helped raise $70,000 to hire a private investigator for three years. The funds dried up without any major breaks in the case, but the investigator, Leigh Hearon, continued to investigate on her own time. In 1998, after five years of investigation, Seattle police detective Dale Tallman said: "We're no closer to solving the case than we were right after the murder.The murderer was found finally in 2003 due to DNA evidence and sentenced to37years.
In 2005 a documentary film, The Gits Movie, was produced about Zapata's life, the Gits, and the Seattle music scene.Zapata is often cast as a symbol for feminist activism, a martyr, and an angel.(though she wouldn't have any of this).
