You have a huge responsibility as an educator—it's not just about talking at people and walking away. You need to make sure they've actually learned something and Laylee is sharing her thoughts on how to do that.

Being an educator is more than just standing in front of a crowd and talking at them. It's about sharing your experience, advice, and tangible takeaways all in the name of helping someone get better at something. But for a lot of people who want to become public speakers/educators, there’s some stuff you gotta learn. So in this episode of the Pretty Okay Podcast, I was so excited to have Laylee Emadi as my guest!

Why? Because not only is she a seasoned speaker, she’s a coach for creative educators, the community builder behind the Educators Lounge, former classroom teacher, and hardcore auntie. She and I talked all the real talk about public speaking vs. educating and here are some of the top takeaways for you if you’re wondering how to become a public speaker.

How to Become a Public Speaker and Small Business Educator It’s about more than just having something to say Being an educator is more than just standing in front of a crowd and talking at them. It's about sharing your experience, advice, and tangible takeaways all in the name of helping someone

For real—there is only so much you can accomplish as one person 😮‍💨

Chances are, marketing your small business is something you hate or feel like you can't keep up with because you're making one big mistake—you're trying to do too much!

Seriously, because when you only have a little bit of time to work on your marketing every week, it's just not possible to be here, there, and everywhere. The math doesn't math.

In this episode of the Pretty Okay Podcast, I had the OG host of this show, Samantha Welker, on as my guest to talk about what doing marketing at scale for a small business looks like (cuz that's my life and her's) in hopes it would help you realize you need to simplify your small business marketing strategy!

You’re Trying to do too Damn Much with Your Marketing Strategy For real—there is only so much you can accomplish as one person Chances are, marketing your small business is something you hate or feel like you can't keep up with because you're making one big mistake—you're trying to do too much...

When it comes to what you think of when someone says “marketing,” things about social media, blogs, and advertising probably come to mind—along with all the content you need to create. And sure, figuring out where you’re going to do your marketing is a do-this-first sorta step when it comes to creating a marketing strategy, but there is more to it than that.

Because you started your small business to make money. Sometimes a lot because it’s your full-time thing. Sometimes less because it’s your side-hustle. But regardless of what camp you’re in, money is the end point of the equation.

So why don’t a lot of small business owners take that into account? Welp, that’s exactly what Frenchie Ferenczi and I talk about in this episode of the podcast—and we dove deep into her money-first approach to small business marketing strategy.

Listen in or skim the takeaways on the website!

A Money-First Approach to Your Marketing Strategy Cuz that’s the whole point, right?! When it comes to what you think of when someone says “marketing,” things about social media, blogs, and advertising probably come to mind—along with all the content you need to create. And sure, figuring ou...

Starting a business isn’t easy (only single digit percentages of the population have done it). But also because if you want to do it, you just gotta do it!

And that’s exactly why I had my friend (and finally an entrepreneur) Marina of Harper + Ivory on as this month’s guest. Because when I tell you Marina has been talking about starting a business with me basically since we met in 2015, I’m not lying. And now that she has, she knows you should just do the damn thing!

What’s Keeping You from Starting a Business It’s normal—we all try to find “the right time” So you’re sitting on this idea for a business, but you just can’t seem to get yourself to start it. Maybe it’s because you’ve never done this before and don’t really know anyone else who h...
