Tea Time
Today’s tea is still Pu-erh. As I pick up the aged tea cake, it feels like I’m touching the pulse of time. Breaking off a small piece and placing it into the Yixing teapot, I pour in boiling water. Instantly, the rich aroma fills the air, like a silent poem.
The charm of Pu-erh tea lies in its transformation. Each infusion offers a different flavor, as if telling an ancient yet fresh story. The first infusion, slightly bitter with a hint of sweetness, resembles the shyness and unfamiliarity of a first meeting. The second infusion, with its richer taste and fuller body, feels like a conversation with an old friend—warm and intimate. As time passes, the flavors of Pu-erh deepen, embodying a sense of time’s essence, much like the wisdom and mellowness gained through life’s experiences.
The process of brewing Pu-erh tea is a form of mental refinement. Pouring water, steeping, and decanting—all actions flow naturally and smoothly. The tea leaves unfurl in the water, symbolizing life stretching out in time. I cherish these quiet moments, finding peace and tranquility in the lingering aroma of tea.
Each sip of Pu-erh tea is a meticulous savoring of life. Today’s Pu-erh continues to offer me endless reflection and contemplation. It’s not just a cup of tea; it’s a journey shared with time. Through Pu-erh, I sense the flow of years, the profundity and beauty of life. Every infusion, every sip, is another opportunity to re-examine and understand myself and my existence.
