Introduced in 1996 as a badge-engineered 80-Series Land Cruiser, the LX was the first foray into the SUV market for luxury marque Lexus. While the aesthetic and drivetrain were carbon copies of the Land Cruiser, the LX offered softer suspension, a more plush interior, running boards, premium wheels, and sound-absorbing insulation.

Into rare rigs? This one for sale by private party out of Newport Beach, California takes the cake. This is an ultra-rare civilian-spec 1996 Toyota Mega Cruiser, and it’s one of 133 in existence—and one of only 7 (!!) that are left hand drive. 🤯

This Mega Cruiser, Chassis BXD20-0001044, spent its first 12 years and 27,000 miles in Japan, before being shipped to Russia, where it roamed for a further 14 years and 22,000 miles. The current custodian purchased this Mega Cruiser just a month before Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
