TAKE NOTE
THE BENIN KINGDOM NEED NO IGBO OR YORUBA CIVILIZATION TO BE RELEVANT.
By Dr. Paul Osa Igbineweka
Both the Igbos and Yorubas whose nomenclature were unknown before the middle of the 19th century are now rewriting history of superiority complex and relevance, because the British invasion had handed over to them the Template of subjugation since 1897 invasion.
Here was a revisionists saying on Facebook that Benin is a kingdom and that the Igbos civilization preceeded Benin. They hardly realized that there was a kingdom of Ogiso dynasty and they have not realized that before the Kingdoms of Ogiso and Ọba dynasties, were the civilization of Pa Idu from where some of his descendants spread to most places of the Kogi axis of the ancient Uhẹ before the Uhẹ/Ife when Igodomigodo had been established as a continued dwellings before Ife and Igbo civilizations.
And then the period of elderly rule on rotational bases on communal areas before the four cardinal Elders and then the Ogiso dynasty. Yet the two neighbours of Benin Kingdom Empire became relevant after the British incursion and creation of the Southwest and Southeast provinces.
Now the revisionists are narrating history as if Benin was never an offshoot of the Pa Idu as the progenitor of all including Aka, Efa, Emehi, the Igodomigodo city, Ubini n'urria, Ubini n'owa, down to the present day Benin (Ubini Nokpẹvbo).
When Igbo and the closest neighbour of the east of Benin called Benin people Oyin'Idu, and Onitsha bearing Onitsha Ado N'Idu and other Benin that naturalized in the Southeast and Southwest, they hardly accept that they were people that existed before them.
Ever since these Benin neighbours launched out for relevance because of their envy over the famous Benin Kingdom Empire, they have never stopped with their hatred of comparison and trying to relegate Benin.
Not too long from their move of agitations, they had forgotten the Ogiso dynasty, but trying to lay claim to Idu era
