Rapper Dies After Suffering Pulmonary Embolism During Radio Show: BeatKing Was 39… Houston-based rapper and producer BeatKing died suddenly at the age of 39, leaving the hip-hop community in mourning. The artist, also known as Club Godzilla, succumbed to a pulmonary embolism on Thursday.

A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot obstructs blood flow to the lung’s artery, according to Mayo Clinic . Various factors, including prolonged inactivity, certain medical conditions, smoking, and obesity, can cause this condition. The clot typically forms in a deep vein, often in the leg, before traveling to the lungs. Once there, it can prevent oxygen from reaching parts of the lung, potentially leading to tissue death and breathing difficulties.BeatKing’s manager, Tasha Felder, confirmed the news to USA TODAY via email on Friday. She recounted the circumstances of his passing, stating, “He was at an Urban One (Radio One) station doing a morning takeover when he suddenly fainted. He was taken to a near by (sic) hospital where he later passed away. His daughters were with him the entire time. It is truly sad, we loved him so much.”

Felder took to her Instagram account to pay tribute to the fallen star. “BeatKing has been the best part of the club for over a decade,” she wrote. “He has produced and worked with so many artists, that his sound will forever live. He loved his daughters , his music, and his fans. We will love him forever.” In addition to her tribute, Felder highlighted BeatKing’s impact on the music scene, saying, “It is truly sad, we loved him so much.”

Usher concert postponed hours before tour opener in Atlanta….. ATLANTA — Usher is postponing his tour opener hours before he was set to take the stage Wednesday.

The singer, who was set to embark on his Past Present Future tour Wednesday night at the State Farm Arena in his hometown of Atlanta, pulled the plug on the first show after dealing with physical pain in the lead up to the show.

“For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,” Usher wrote in a statement shared to social media Wednesday. “I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal. You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100% of me.” He continued: “The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best.”

His next two shows are also in Atlanta at the State Farm Arena, set for Friday and Saturday. It’s unclear whether those concerts will proceed as planned at this time.

Usher said more details on tickets and the new tour date would be available to attendees shortly: “My team will be sharing news of the rescheduled date soon.”

The singer, 45, ended his note with a positive outlook, “I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you,” signing it simply “Usher.” The tour is set to be the culmination of a landmark few years for Usher, who rocked his 2024 Super Bowl halftime show performance in February, days after releasing his ninth solo studio album, “Coming Home,” and wrapped up his critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency with 100 shows.

The Atlanta DEA field office made the largest m**h seizure in its history after recovering over 2,000 pounds disguised as produce at a Clayton County grocery store.

On Monday afternoon, federal law enforcement officials held a press conference detailing how it tracked a load of m**hamphetamines from the Mexican border all the way to Atlanta. The DEA said the drugs were smuggled by a Mexican drug cartel.

SAINT-DENIS, France – A gold medal is coming back to the U.S. in the women’s 4x100 relay.
The star-powered U.S. women’s relay team featuring Gabby Thomas and Sha’Carri Richardson, as well as Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry, cruised to first place in the event, running a season-best 41.78.
Great Britain took second with a time of 41.85 and Germany ran a season-best for third in 41.97.

Thomas ran a good third leg but she was in third position when she handed the baton off to Richardson. Richardson ran a superb anchor leg and brought the victory home for the U.S. in rainy conditions.

“Obviously passing the baton to Sha’Carri is very special. She is so fast, you know we’re in good hands when she gets her hand on the baton,” Thomas said. “I felt very proud, and I was grateful to compete with these ladies, and we got the gold.” The U.S. women finished second in the Tokyo Olympics behind a star-studded Jamaican squad, but Jamaica was without all of its stars, such as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah, due to various injuries.

The U.S. women were the far superior team on the track as they got through all their relay exchanges on the way to an Olympic gold medal.

The gold is Thomas’ second of these Olympics. She won the 200 on Tuesday, and it’s Richardson’s first Olympic gold. She placed second in the 100 last Saturday.

Bronny James sparks dating buzz as he is spotted watching dad LeBron at the Olympics with Salli Richardson-Whitfield’s daughter Parker Whitfield….. LeBron James ‘ son Bronny was in attendance during Team USA ‘s stunning comeback victory over Serbia in the men’s basketball semifinals.
The 19-year-old watched as his dad - and his all-star teammates - overcame a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter at the 2024 Paris Olympics .
Amid the action on the court, viewers noticed Bronny was accompanied by a young woman, who fans identified as Salli Richardson-Whitfield’s daughter Parker Whitfield.
The recently-drafted Laker follows Whitfield on Instagram, however little is known about her as her accounts are private. It’s also unclear how the pair met, and whether they’re romantically involved or just pals. In the snaps, Bronny rocked a white tee and black shorts while sitting courtside.
Parker, who is the eldest daughter of the Eureka actress and soap star Dondré Whitfield, cut an equally casual figure in a cream cardigan and white pants.
She started college last fall, and appears to attend Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Her mother is best known for her role as Angela in the film A Low Down Dirty Shame, along with her work in the 90s. She tied the knot with Dondré in 2002, who is known for his work on All My Children.

Travis Scott was arrested in Paris on Friday after getting into a fight with his bodyguard, according to multiple reports.
CNN and others are reporting the rapper, 33, was arrested at a 5-star hotel.
BBC News reports the “Sicko Mode” singer is alleged to have attacked a security guard who attempted to break up a fight between Scott and his own bodyguard at the George V hotel.
“I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard,” the Paris prosecutor’s officer said in a statement per NBC News. The security guard had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The Paris public prosecutor’s office has referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police.”
On Thursday, Scott, whose real name Jacques Bermon Webster II, attended Team USA’s basketball semifinal win against Serbia.
Scott was arrested in Miami on June 20 for disorderly intoxication and trespassing on a property after a warning, PEOPLE reports. His attorney Bradford Cohen said in a statement Scott was “detained due to a misunderstanding.”

Blueface legal battles
Blueface, 27, whose real name is Johnathan Jamall Porter, has had multiple legal battles
September 2021- Blueface was arrested after attacking a security guard outside Skinny’s Lounge in Los Angeles.
November 2022- The rapper was arrested and charged with attempted murder after a shooting outside of Euphoric Gentlemen’s Club in Las Vegas in October 2022.
June 2023- Blueface was arrested for robbery in Las Vegas in June 2023.
The rapper was arrested a month later and the plea deal he struck wiped charges of attempted murder and owning a gun by a prohibited person.
During the trial, the victim who referred to himself as Kentabius Traylor, said he was “disappointed” and “lost faith in the justice system.”
He also slammed the judge for letting Blueface avoid jail with the suspended sentence.
“I just feel like this has not been done on my case, I mean this hasn’t been done on my behalf. I know people who get more time for stealing bubble gum, honestly. I know people who do more time for stealing TVs than they do for shooting somebody,” he went on.
“I’m just completely disappointed in all of this.
“I hate the way my name was ridiculed in social media before I could even find out about it. Like I said just this complete process has been a complete drop of the ball.”

RAPPER Blueface has been sentenced to four years in prison after violating his probation.
Blueface, 27, whose real name is Johnathan Jamall Porter, was on probation after receiving assault charges for assaulting a security guard in 2021. The rapper had a hearing on Friday to discuss his violation.
His father, Johnathan Porter, was the first to share Blueface’s sentence, posting a series of emotional videos on Instagram Stories.
Through tearful words filmed from his car, Porter expressed his anger about the judicial system and confirmed his son’s four-year sentence.
“Stay strong son,” he wrote over one. In another story, posted to X, an angry Porter screamed at the camera and spoke inaudibly.
Blueface’s manager, Wack 100 , said the rapper would not be serving the entire four-year prison sentence, per a TikTok video from The Donat Show, which has been following the rapper’s legal troubles.
The rapper has already spent over 400 days in jail after previous probation violations, so his sentence was reduced to three years on Friday based on time served. Wack 100 added that he expected the rapper would do a third of the time in state prison.

“He’ll be home in 9-10 months,” the manager affirmed.
SUSPENDED SENTENCE
In 2023, Blueface was given a suspended sentence of up to five years for shooting a man outside of a Las Vegas strip club.
He pleaded guilty to using a firearm and battery charges for the October 2022 shooting .The man, who was shot outside of Euphoric Gentlemen’s Club in Nevada , said he recognized the rapper from a conversation earlier in the night.
The man said he made a joke about Blueface “speaking with some females in a cheap vehicle,” according to docs obtained by CBS affiliate KLAS .
Per documents on the incident, “[The victim] was attempting to leave in his truck after the fight and stated the males may have thought he was ‘going for a gun’ and started shooting at him in his truck.”

Jury finds man guilty of sending 17-year-old son to rob and kill rapper PnB Rock,.,,, A Los Angeles County jury on Wednesday found a man guilty of sending his 17-year-old son to kill rapper PnB Rock .After deliberating for about four hours, jurors convicted Freddie Trone, 42, of one count of murder, two counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.
Both sides at the two-week trial agreed that the teen walked into Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in South Los Angeles in September 2022 and shot the Philadelphia hip-hop star while robbing him of his jewelry as he ate with the mother of his 4-year-old daughter.
The prosecution said he was acting on his father’s orders while the defense said Trone was only an accessory after the fact.The now-19-year-old was charged with murder but is in the custody of the juvenile system and a judge has found that he is not currently competent to stand trial; mental competency proceedings for him are scheduled for later this month.
The Associated Press does not typically name minors who are accused of crimes.Another man, Tremont Jones, was found guilty Wednesday of two counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy. Jones was not charged with murder.

Trone acknowledged on the stand that the crimes were “heinous” and that his son was “dangerous.”
Deputy District Attorney Timothy Richardson seized on both during his closing argument, saying, “But you send your 17-year-old son with knowledge of the problems he possesses to do this?”
Richardson emphasized to jurors that a non-shooter can be guilty of felony murder when they are a “major participant” who acted with “reckless indifference to human life.” Video showed Trone in the parking lot of the restaurant about 30 minutes before the killing. Trone testified that he had reason to be there because he was drumming up business for his nearby beauty shop.

Richardson showed a surveillance image of Jones fist-bumping PnB Rock, whose arm had valuable pieces of jewelry on it. Prosecutors said Jones then tipped Trone off to the rapper’s presence, and his jewelry.

Jones and Trone are scheduled to be sentenced August 27, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón announced Wednesday.

A third defendant, Shauntel Trone, pleaded no contest to accessory after the fact on July 16, 2024, Gascón announced. She is scheduled to be sentenced January 16.
