Tonight's the big night in Nashville, Tennessee!!

Celebrating his brand new album, "Look Up", Ringo Starr and a bunch of his friends will be performing at the historic Ryman Auditorium! Tomorrow night, as well.

Both shows will be taped for broadcast on CBS this spring and to stream on Paramount+. Proceeds from the shows and the broadcast will benefit the American Red Cross and those impacted by the California wildfires.

Ringo is going to be joined by special guests Jack White, Sheryl Crow, Brenda Lee, Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, Mickey Guyton, Sarah Jarosz, Jamey Johnson, the War and Treaty and three artists who appear on the "Look Up" album - Billy Strings, Larkin Poe and Molly Tuttle. T Bone Burnett, who co-produced "Look Up" and wrote or co-wrote all but one of the songs on it, will be the producer of these two special Ryman shows.

Here's hoping all my friends in Nashville have a ball tonight and tomorrow, especially Ken Michaels.

Happy "Look Up" day! The new album from Ringo Starr is here! "Look Up", featuring Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, (Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of) Lucius, Larkin Poe (Rebecca and Megan Lovell) and Alison Krauss, was produced by T Bone Burnett with a little help from his friends Daniel Tashian, Bruce Sugar and Ringo Starr! Eleven new songs: Breathless, Look Up, Time On My Hands, Never Let Me Go, I Live For Your Love, Come Back, Can You Hear Me Call, Rosetta, You Want Some, String Theory, Thankful. On Lost Highway Records.

"Look Up" is a Ringo's first full length album in more than five years, following 2019's "What's My Name". Of course, those five plus years were filled with the twenty-one songs released over Ringo's five EPs - "Zoom In" (2021), "Change The World" (2021), "EP3" (2022), "Rewind Forward" (2023) and "Crooked Boy" (2024). And, speaking of the number twenty-one... "Look Up" is Ringo's twenty-first full length solo studio album!

84 years old?? So what!!

Ringo Starr will be firing on all cylinders in 2025! (By the way, Ringo will be 85 on July 7, 2025.)

On January 10, Ringo will release his first full length album in more than five years, a country album co-written and produced by T Bone Burnett, called "Look Up". It'll be Ringo's second country album. To promote "Look Up", Ringo will perform two shows at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on January 14 and 15.

Now, comes word that Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band will hit the road again for a spring tour of the Eastern U.S. that will bring them to Radio City Music Hall on June 13. It will be the second show on this tour, that will start on June 12 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The tour will end on June 25 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The All Starr Band lineup will remain unchanged from last year - lead guitarist Steve Lukather (from Toto), rhythm guitarist Colin Hay (ex-Men At Work), saxophonist and multi instrumentalist Warren Ham, bassist Hamish Stuart (ex-Average White Band and Paul McCartney's 1990s band), drummer Gregg Bissonette and keyboardist Buck Johnson.

Number 9, number 9, number 9 dream...

John Lennon's 1974 album, "Walls And Bridges", became his first album to generate more than one hit single. After "Whatever Gets You Thru The Night" soared to number 1, becoming John's first number 1 hit, Apple Records tapped back into the album for a second single. Issued on December 16, 1974, " #9 Dream" was penned by John for inclusion on "Walls And Bridges". Recording sessions took place in July and August 1974, with John handling production duties. John was supported by the Plastic Ono Nuclear Band, as well as Little Big Horns and the Philharmanic Orchestrange, which featured Ken Ascher (clavinet), Jesse Ed Davis (guitar), Nicky Hopkins (electric piano), Arthur Jenkins (percussion), Jim Keltner (drums), Bobby Keys (saxophone), Eddie Mottau (acoustic guitar), Klaus Voormann (bass) and the 44th Street Fairies - Lennon, May Pang, Lori Burton and Joey Dambra (backing vocals).
Appropriately, "9 Dream" reached number 9 on the U.S. Billboard chart. (The "Walls And Bridges" album was John's second number 1 album.)

"Power To The People" RIGHT ON!

Before "Imagine", John released the anthemic "Power To The People". It was a stand alone single (a song not taken from an album) from John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band that was issued in the U.S. on Apple Records on March 22, 1971 (the day before my sixth birthday!).

Lennon recorded "Power To The People" with the Plastic Ono Band at his home studio, Ascot Sound Studios, on February 15, 1971. This was during the early stages of the "Imagine" album sessions. Lennon, who wrote the song, played electric guitar and piano. The Plastic Ono Band consisted of bassist Klaus Voormann, drummer Jim Gordon, saxophonist Bobby Keys and vocalists Doris Troy (at the time, an Apple recording artist), Madeline Bell, Nanette Workman, Rosetta Hightower and others.

"Power To The People" was a big hit, climbing to number 11. Four and a half years later, it made it's album debut on the 1975 compilation, "Shaved Fish".

December 8 will always be a somber day. 44 years ago today, December 8, 1980, John Lennon was murdered. It's still hard for me to wrap my head around that fact that John Lennon is gone.

I'd like to remember him by sharing his music. This is "Imagine" from John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band (with the Flux Fiddlers). It was the title song to Lennon's 1971 album, his second album following the breakup of the Beatles.

"Imagine" was released as a single in the U.S. on October 11, 1971 by Apple Records. It was written by John and Yoko Ono and produced by John, Yoko and Phil Spector. The recording sessions took place at the Lennon's home studio, Ascot Sound, at Tittenhurst Park, England, on May 27, 1971 with string overdubs (the Flux Fiddlers!) happening on July 4 in New York City.

Lennon played piano while the Plastic Ono Band - Klaus Voormann on bass and future member of Yes, Alan White, on drums - accompanied him. "Imagine" reached number 3 on the U.S. singles chart while the album, released on September 9, 1971 in the U.S., became Lennon's first number 1.
