I'm very lucky to live in an area with a variety of great mini marts, delis and restaurants.

Allow me to introduce one of my favourites, La Bottega, a small Italian deli with an amazing selection of meats, cheeses, oils, sauces, wines and liquors.

They are always my go to when I want to make my own charcuterie board at home, but they also offer a tailor made platter service which can cater to your tastes and budget.

Make sure to check out their wine and liquor selection too! They always have great combo offers on their wines and I've found limoncello, Aperol, grappa and sambuca here with super reasonable prices.

Bún Bò Nam Bộ 🍜

This refreshing, savory dish combines tender beef, fresh herbs, crunchy peanuts, and crisp veggies, all on a bed of vermicelli noodles.

Perfect for a summer meal, this bowl bursts with flavors and textures that are guaranteed to leave your hunger satisfied and your taste buds satiated.

This delicious bowl was from La Grace and is often my go to for a quick and easy lunch.

Ermmmm sorry, did this actually happen?? 🥹

🥳A massive thank you to everyone that voted for me both in Hanoi and further afield. Words cannot even begin to describe how incredibly grateful and overwhelmed I am with the support you have shown me.

This account started as a personal food blog of my time in Hanoi living with a gluten intolerance. I now have had the pleasure of helping people from all over the world, travelling around Vietnam, as well as people living here.

I'm also extremely grateful for the various opportunities that have been coming my way recently and very excited about what is to come this year both personally and professionally.

❤️A big shout out to the other accounts in the top three who I absolutely love following on Instagram myself - and you rock and I love what you do! Also, thank you to for creating this platform for businesses and people to shine. ✨

Everyone in Hanoi has their favourite local cafe and this is mine. It's just a few minutes walk from my house, has a great selection of cold or hot drinks and it's a great hub for locals and expats alike.

My personal favourites are:

🥳Sociable Eating: Part Two

Tiệm Bé Nhỡ is a small family run business that offers a carefully selected traditional Hanoian menu.

At 99'000 VND ($3.90) per person, you get to pick a soup, a vegetable dish, a side and two main dishes. All orders come with a sharing bowl of white rice for the table.

Their menu is only available in Vietnamese however, the owner Quynh, was very responsive on messenger and even came down when we were there to answer any additional questions. She advised that most of the menu items were gluten free and the only dish that wasn't, the stir fried mixed vegetables with oyster sauce, could be changed upon request.

This quaint spot is definitely worth a visit whilst in town to get an authentic 'family style' eating experience with the reassurance of eating safely too.

🥳Sociable Eating: Part One

BBQ is one of the most popular meal options for a friends or family gathering in Vietnam. Traditional Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean spots are all on the rise in the capital and there is an abundance of choice out there.

Whilst BBQ in itself is generally safe for gluten free eating, there is always the uncertainty with sauces and also the annoyance (well at least for me) of not always having a carby end to my meal. Most traditional Vietnamese BBQ is served with bread as standard so I always feel a bit left out.

At Mập Kòi BBQ however they serve cooked rice noodles to soak up all of the BBQ flavours at the end along with a delicious tamarind sauce.

We enjoyed a feast of different meats including pork, beef, intestines and cow udders. We also had a variety of veggies along with melted cheese and a salted duck egg sauce. The salted duck egg sauce was also a new experience for me and paired really well with the meats and veggies on offer.

Let me just clarify that you can just stick to 'standard' meats if you are not keen on trying the more unusual cuts. However, I would urge anyone to try to be as adventurous as you can when exploring a new culture and cuisine.

Quick thank you to for introducing me to this awesome spot ❤️

Baked has always been my go to for gluten free cupcakes or custom cakes, so imagine my delight when they announced their legendary cookies gluten free last weekend!🥳

📸Rocky road cookie
📸 Chocolate chip walnut
📸 Double chocolate chip walnut

All of them were delicious especially when warmed up. If you made me pick a favourite it would definitely be the double choc chip walnut 🤤

I'm not sure if this will be a regular thing but I really hope it is.

In the meantime check out .hn for their weekly gluten free cupcake option, basque burnt cheesecake (usually on weekend specials), GF flour blend and custom cakes.

Another week, another GF bánh xèo mission completed.😜

This time I went to Bánh Xèo Zòn, which is actually the first place I ever had bánh xèo in Hanoi when I first arrived more than 8 years ago. I haven't been back since as it's not in my local area, and honestly I thought it might have closed down during COVID times.

We went at lunch time and the place was busy with locals, which is usually a good thing to look for when picking a local place to eat. The guy serving us was definitely used to tourists coming in as he explained how to wrap and enjoy the dish without the need to ask him and his English was spot on.

📸Bò (beef) bánh xèo
📸Tôm (shrimp) bánh xèo

All the bánh xèo options for 75'000 VND each for a set of three and I was pleasantly surprised to see a vegan option too.

There were a few other classic Vietnamese options on the menu however, I didn't ask about allergens with these.

20/04/2024

Bánh xèo, like many traditional Vietnamese dishes should be gluten free. However, as it seems with many dishes gluten is creeping in in the form of either packet seasonings or pre-made flour mixes. It used to be very common to find gluten free bánh xèo however, more and more places are adding a bit of wheat flour to the batter.

It's one of my favourite dishes and also one I probably get messages about the most as it's such an iconic and flavoursome dish. Therefore, I have been on a mission recently to find some spots that serve it gluten free.

I was so impressed by the first location I tried, recommended to me by my friend and Tubudd buddy Giang.

This particular spot offers a choice of toppings including shrimp, pork, beef or egg. There were also combos such as pork and egg or shrimp and beef. Traditionally it's served with tiny shrimps, pork and beans sprouts so to have a variety of toppings available was intriguing.

We opted for a shrimp set, to try to keep it traditional, and a pork egg mix. Both mine and my partners favourite was definitely the pork and egg as it packed a punch with the flavour and had a great texture to it.

The location itself was on a main road but still potentially easy to miss as the building is unassuming and the eatery itself is on the second floor.

⏰Opening hours 10:30-14:00 & 16:00-21:00

📍Bánh Xèo Tôm Nhảy Thanh San
55 P. Hai Bà Trưng, Trần Hưng Đạo, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội

For those that haven't heard of this delicious dish, bánh xèo is like the Vietnamese answer to a savory pancake or some might even say a Vietnamese taco – crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and filled with goodies. Wrap it in rice paper with a selection of fresh herbs and veggies then dip it in a tangy sauce for a unique culinary experience.

Have you tried this dish or would you? Let me know in the comments below👇👇👇👇

Check out for a healthy lunch or dinner delivery service. Their menu is clearly labelled with GF markers and I found them really easy to communicate with when I messaged to ask further questions.

As well as their carefully created standard menu with punny names and well balanced ingredients, you can also create your own which is what I did for my first order.

Their prices are super reasonable and I found their service to be top notch.

🛵Delivery only service and orders can be made via Grab, Instagram and Facebook.

The BEST Lebanese food I have eaten in Hanoi!!

I was recommended Cedars International by a couple of people who had both dined in and gotten delivery from there.

I contacted them beforehand and although, through their own admission, they didn't have much gluten free knowledge they were very open to advice and answering questions.

The location itself is small and unassuming. A family run business, we were greeted and served by the very accommodating Lana, who was also the person responding to my messages.

The place quickly filled up whilst we were there and the food coming out of the kitchen all looked and smelled divine.

We ordered two main plates to share:
📸Kafta Istanbulieh (minced lamb skewers topped with tahini, yoghurt, tomato sauce and nuts served with fries, salad and hummus)
📸Mixed grill (minced lamb Kafta, beef shish and chicken shish tawouk served with fries, salad and hummus)

Both dishes are also served with pita bread which aren't gluten free but given on the side, so my partner enjoyed those.

If you love creative yet healthy food or maybe you're just in need of a bit of a nutrient boost, get yourself down to IVegan.

As the name probably suggests, they are an all vegan eatery with a great selection of GF items.

Their menu has clear labelling and their food is made to order so swaps are possible, which means even some of the non GF items can be made gluten free.

IVegan doubles as a peaceful co-working space as well as a peaceful space away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was also voted 'Best Healthy Eats' in Where in Hanoi's People Pick awards in 2023.🎉🎉

📸 IVegan smoothie bowl
📸Falafel bowl
📸Sunset juice
📸Energy balls (chocolate, vegan protein and my personal favourite carrot)

I swapped out the granola to make the smoothie bowl gluten free however, I recently spoke to the owner about making GF granola and it sounds like it might be in the pipeline. 🤞

They also offer a great value meal plan service for anyone who's short on time but still looking to make healthy meal choices.

🇻🇳IVegan is available in Hanoi, Da Nang and HCMC.

Have you ever seen people walking around Hanoi laden with interesting looking snacks and wondered, "Can I eat any of these?" 🧐

Well, the answer is yes!! Of course you still need to practice caution and either use your translation card or buy with a trusted local buddy.

We found a lot of the snacks to be corn or rice based and were able to buy a couple of bags to try.

I'll be posting a reaction video soon with the goodies that we picked up, but I wanted to post this today as I often get people messaging me who are anxious about trying 'street snacks' in Hanoi.

I completely understand the anxiety that comes with being in a foreign country especially when you don't speak the language. That is why I always strive to post content that will help ease that anxiety.

I found these snacks whilst on a walkabout with the fantastic local buddy and who are fast becoming gluten free experts.

Bánh rán is a traditional Vietnamese streetside snack made from glutinous rice flour. It comes in either a sweet or savoury filling and is honestly one of my favourite things to grab for a quick satisfying snack.

The savoury one is typically filled with pork, mushroom, carrot and rice noodles then served with a fish sauce based dipping sauce.

The sweet ones have a variety of flavours with sesame, honey or just plain sugar being the most popular.

Generally priced at 3'000-5'000 VND per ball, they are also an absolute bargain and it would be almost rude to only try one.

Have you tried bánh rán before? If not, would you opt for the sweet or savoury variety? Let me know in the comments below ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

The People's Picks Awards by in Hanoi have officially launched this week and I would really like some of our gluten free friendly restaurants and bars to be shortlisted .

They also have a bunch of new categories including 'Favourite Influencer' and I would really appreciate it if you could give my little page a nomination.

I am really striving to build this page and this community within Hanoi, and beyond this year, so any additional exposure would be greatly appreciated.

The link to nominate businesses is here:

The sun is finally back in Hanoi so we decided to pop to .hanoi for lunch on Sunday.

Our go to order is always the traditional platter and a grilled Halloumi appetizer.

The platter includes chicken Shawarma, beef kofta, grilled vegetables, falafel, a variety of dips, crudites and pita.

‼️Please note the pita is not gluten free (my partner has that and it's in a separate bowl) and you need to specify that you want the falafel gluten free as usually this is crumbed.‼️

The venue itself is huge with a spacious outdoor and indoor seating area. They have also recently opened a mini dog park so if you can bring your furry friends down for a play as well. 🐾🐾

Their cocktails are also worth mentioning, although we didn't indulge this time, my personal favourite is the blueberry margarita! 🫐

Hanoi has a huge cafe culture and I recently made a vow to myself that I would explore more cute hidden gems like this one.

La Caf is tucked away down a small lane in Tây Hồ, offering a lovely selection of teas, coffees and juices.

We enjoyed our drinks outside in their small garden area. I'll definitely keep this one on the list for it's peaceful vibes, touch of nature and unique drink offerings.

Have you ever tried pigeon before? 🧐

The likelihood is, for some, that this might not be the most conventional go to street food however, I urge you to give it a try.

Expertly roasted, this small bird has tons of flavour and is truly a succulent little treat. This particular spot serves theirs with a fragrant and peppery sticky rice along with a traditional dipping sauce made up of salt, pepper, kumquat juice and chilli.

This was one of the spots discovered on my gluten free food tour booked with and hosted by the charismatic ❤️

Friends Bun Cha has been an institution in Tây Hồ for years and despite moving several times, their loyal customers will always follow.

Consistently delicious Bún chả served fresh from 8:30am-5pm, seven days per week, along with delicious fried spring rolls and a great drinks selection.

Also, a lot of people have reported that their favourite spots now use Knorr powder which is usually not gluten free. However, this place is a Knorr free zone!

I was lucky enough to be gifted three of these great nut butters from .butter to try.

So, I have been experimenting with a few different recipes to show how truly versatile these vegan, gluten free, no added sugar wonders really are.

First up, a filling and healthy vegan red lentil curry inspired by using almond butter.

I've made this before but used to sub the almond butter for peanut butter during lockdown days.

Next, my personal favourite, the all natural cashew butter. Based on a recipe by .co with a few added ingredients including Bok Choy and tofu.

Creamy yet fresh and put together in under 30 minutes at the end of a busy day this way has gone straight into my cooking rotation.

I then tried my hand at baking some peanut butter flourless cookies, I'm not a baker but these were super easy to make using only brown sugar, peanut butter and one egg. Essentially, you just mix together your ingredients, put in the oven and 15 minutes later you have some sweet treats.

I've also been a little obsessed with overnight oats since came to Hanoi so I've left a few of my combos here for inspiration.

Let me know what recipes you'd try for yourself in the comments ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

Whether you are looking for a lazy brunch option or a tasty dinner has got you sorted.

They offer a Mediterranean inspired menu with a range of small plates, brunch dishes and main meals.

Their cocktail menu is also well worth checking out.

If you are ever looking for catering at home or a free flow brunch Rosa's can cater to your requirements at a very reasonable price.

I've been there for the last two years for their Christmas free flow and I can't recommend it enough.

Pictured here are the eggs Benedict and the grilled snapper fillet with lemon caper butter served with two sides of your choice.

**Note - I took my own bread from to the restaurant to have with my eggs Benedict as they don't have gluten free bread.
