Lazy, arrogant, and ungrateful. We have our own terms we like to use. Accepting, inclusive, and witty. Thinkers and dreamers. But which of these descriptors are true of the latest generation to enter the workforce, college, or that gray area in between? Or do they both hold water? There’s no doubt about it. Median math and science scores be damned, the 20 and even 30-somethings of today are the mo
st educated in American history. It’s a generation bursting with knowledge and creativity, regardless of whether or not our aptitudes translate into “valuable” work force skills, in the opinion of those of earlier generations. But no doubt about it, we’re also a generation raised on the Internet, social media, and instant access to entertainment. And by God, do we get distracted. And yes, maybe those participation medals and diorama contests did foster a little seed of conceit in many of us. But which will win out? Will we go down as the brilliant generation that used our creativity and acceptance to create beneficial changes in the world around us? Or the lazy one that never achieved our potential, and left the country for worse? Or, of course, somewhere in between. This site is meant to motivate you to achieve your potential. We’re going to interview people who are successfully- or unsuccessfully- pursuing their passions, but we’re not going to put them on a pedestal. We’re not going to offer up shallow “27 things you should be awesomely doing” posts that inspire but don’t motivate (there’s a difference). We’re going to talk to people, who are just like you and me, who finally got over the hump and got after what they wanted, and ask them about how they did it and what happened next, for better or worse. We’re going to talk to people who started a business, wrote a play, traveled the world, adopted a child, formed a band, ran a marathon, and helped someone in need. We’re going to ask them why, and more importantly how they did what they did, and do what they do. If you have a passion you’d like to pursue, this site is for you.
