“Take care of the fans and they will sure as hell take care of you.” - Elvis Presley

He made time for anyone and everyone.
He made time to show them how much they meant to him; whether it was for a few minutes, a few hours, or a few more…you felt noticed and you felt love.

Thank you Elvis for giving that feeling to so many and continuing to do so. You’re always “Gentle On Our Minds”. Photos of Elvis with fans from November 1968.

“To judge a man by his weakest link or deed is like judging the power of the ocean by one wave.” - Elvis Presley

“It’s evident that Elvis was always striving for a higher level of consciousness, seeking enlightenment, and trying to find meaning in his life. However, his life was not without its struggles. While he was committed to his spiritual journey, he also faced the darker aspects of fame and personal turmoil. Yet, even as he grappled with these challenges, his heart remained central to his story, and it’s through that heart that we continue to connect with him. even after all these years.”
- From the book “Elvis Between the Lines” by Ingrid de Lao

“I learned that when somebody is doing something that is more important in his or her life than having their photograph taken, you’re going to get great pictures.”
- Alfred Wertheimer

These photos capture a glimpse into the charisma of one man, the magnitude of an unstoppable force, and the energy which radiated from Elvis Aaron Presley.

Photos in this post are “Alfred Wertheimer’s Incredible Photos of Elvis On The Cusp Of Greatness – 1956”.

“If you’re gonna love me, love the life I lead. Need the things I need, don’t try to change me. If you’re gonna take me, take me for what I am. I can’t be another man, I can’t be free; ‘Cause the life I lead is the life I lead.”

Reflecting on lyrics for this song, when you think about it, they truly sum up who Elvis was and some of the struggles he faced. Take a read below, and let me know what you think.

1. The life he lead was tough as being in the public image for so long, many knew Elvis the entertainer…not the life he lead as a simple man offstage.

2. There were certain things he needed and craved from others to be fully understood for who he was offstage, especially from a religious perspective and his search for life’s purpose. He needed these things and no one was gonna change him as much as they tried.

3. If you were gonna take him as a family member, friend, fan, or other, he just wanted to be taken for what he was…not what Hollywood, the Press, or what others thought he was.

4. He couldn’t be another man and couldn’t be free because that’s the way the good Lord made him. In many instances in his life he couldn’t be free from contracts and other obligations which didn’t always fulfill his dreams the way he hoped they would. He tried to keep the faith through it all though.

5. Amongst personal and professional struggles in his life, with everything said and done, the life he lead was the life he lead…and he did the best he could with it.

“When the storms of life are raging…stand by me…When I do the best I can and my friends misunderstand…stand by me.”

Lyrics above are from the gospel song “Stand By Me”. Elvis could be found in the recording studio on May 25, 1966 during sessions which ran from 1am - 4am. The song would be released on the “How Great Thou Art” album in 1967.

NOTE: Photos in this post are from Elvis On Tour in April 1972. Although the photos are a few years after the song was released, they felt fitting for these lyrics.

Fashion In The Mansion: Part Eight ⚡️

Once you’ve made your way out of the Mansion after visiting the Jungle Room, you’re guided through Vernon’s office out back, then to the Trophy Room, and finally the Racquetball Room which features the final pieces on display of Elvis’ attire. All pieces in this room are from Lanksy Bros in Memphis.

NOTE: The little leather piano you see in this building is where Elvis sang for the last time. He played “Unchained Melody” and “Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain”, then headed to bed on August 16, 1977. Snippets of both songs are playing in the racquetball room as you walk through.

Attire #1: Elvis’ Personal Wardrobe Purchased from Lansky’s - The blue navy coat from Lansky which Elvis wore when he met Muhammad Ali in February 1973.

Attire #2: This is a small selection of Elvis’ Lansky Collection, including jacket worn for multiple RCA publicity shoots and his sailor’s hat worn at McKellar Lake.

The last two photos are pictures of the Racquetball Room from the outside as you make your way into the building. Photos are not shared often of this so wanted to include them so you could feel like you’re truly on the tour making your way through the Graceland grounds 🙂

Fashion In The Mansion: Part Seven ⚡️

Once you’ve made your way through the pool room toward a little hallway in the basement, you reach the green carpeted stairs which lead you to another famous room at Graceland - “The Jungle Room” (known as “The Den” when Elvis was around). Inside this room, there are two pieces of Elvis’ iconic attire.

Attire #1: Blue Suede Fringe Jacket - Elvis wore this blue suede fringe jacket while signing autographs at the Houston Astrodome (February 1970).

Attire #2: Leather Outfit - Personal leather outfit worn and owned by Elvis. Most likely this would have been from 1974. NOTE: The photos of Elvis alongside this suit are not the exact same suit (the design is different) but they are a similar attire to the one on display.

Fashion In The Mansion: Part Four ⚡️

Unfortunately there were no pictures of Elvis in this outfit, so let’s be creative and use our imagination with the first photo. Yes it’s an edit but hope you enjoy anyway and hope it brings the house to life even more for you 🙂

Anyway, back to the house tour. After walking through the dining room you are greeted with the Graceland kitchen which has one piece of Elvis’ attire inside.

Attire #1: Suede Patchwork Outfit - Personal Italian made suede patchmork outfit worn and owned by Elvis.

You’ll notice a few additional photos at the end of this post. If you walk to the other side of the kitchen following the tour walkway, you’ll find some TV’s (which represent security cameras on the property) in addition to red phones which were used on August 16, 1977. Under the red phone is a drawer which is a famous spot where Lisa Marie let you know she was there by signing her name inside.

Fashion In The Mansion: Part Three ⚡️

After taking a tour though the living room and making a quick pit stop to Glady’s room just down the hall, you’re guided back to the main staircase where you turn the corner into the beautiful dining room. Inside this room stands one piece of Elvis’ attire at the head of the table where Elvis would always sit.

Attire #1: Elvis’ Personal IC Costume Company Suit with Red Leather Details - Elvis had much of his clothing custom made by Bill Belew and IC Costume Company. On September 4, 1972, Elvis closed at the Las Vegas Hilton with a dinner and midnight show. Following the late show, Colonel Parker threw a party to honor the English lans who were in Las Vegas. Elvis would also receive the award by New Musical Express for Top World Single and Top World Personality.

Fashion In The Mansion - Part Two ⚡️

After you enter through the front door and are greeted with the main staircase, turn right to see Graceland’s iconic living room. In the living room there are two more pieces of Elvis’ personal attire as described below.

Attire #1: White Jacket - Personal Morrie Geyer Jacket worn and owned by Elvis. The tag inside the front panel of the jacket has “EP” in a cursive font. Unfortunately, I was not able to find any pictures of Elvis wearing this jacket.

Attire #2: Black Outfit - Elvis, as seen popping his head outside of his Mercedes limo, wore this custom-made suit by Bill Belew and IC Costume Company.

Graceland - the Home of Elvis Presley 🤍⚡️

Touring the mansion on August 16, 2024, which marks 47 years since Elvis’s passing was an emotional and special experience.

Thank you to for an amazing tour and thank you to the archives team (led by ), for all of the little touches and apparel added to the mansion for Elvis Week. Those little touches truly made the tour more special than I could have imagined.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always keeping Elvis’s legacy alive through one place which meant so much to him. The fact we all get the opportunity to experience it is a blessing. As Elvis would say, “thank you, thank you very much” for allowing us to be welcomed into his world today and everyday.

Photos of Graceland taken by on August 16, 2024. Stay tuned, more to come 🤍

To Elvis Aaron Presley, a friend to us all who has been missed for 47 years now.

Sometimes when you love or miss someone so much, there aren’t any words or enough words to be said. All through the day and night, we just see memories passing, the love you shared, the fun/joys of life, and the laughter…oh we wish you could feel what our hearts said last night and today…Oh I miss you, and I wish you were here.”

Thank you for everything Elvis. Your light in this world will never be matched. With everything you accomplished and completed, we know God called you home because he saw that you needed some rest. I hope you are resting easy, and please know this. We will make sure your light, life, and legacy will never burn out.

Elvis: The Return To Vegas - August 3, 1969

An inside look at this FTD release which showcases audio from one of Elvis’ first live appearances in 9 years.

During these shows he would say “It’s my first live appearance in 9 years…I appeared dead a few times…but this is my first live appearance since then.”
