The 68 Comeback Gospel Medley:
(1) “Where Could I Go But To The Lord”
(2) “Up Above My Head”
(3) “Saved”
“Burning up the set with vitality, Elvis grits his teeth and sings the most dangerous sounding vocal of his life. Belting out the lead with zeal, he sounds completely truthful in the lyrics about seeing the pits of hell and finding himself sermonizing the path to salvation. Whatever else Elvis ever was, right then and there that’s who he truly believed he was.”
- Quote from “Elvis: The Gospel & Bordello Sequence NBC TV Special June, 1968”

“This is the story of my life, it’s called ‘Fairytale’.” - Footage from December 31, 1976 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
With some songs Elvis recorded in the studio, he would bring them to life live onstage. In my opinion, and more often than not, the live version would sound better than the studio recording. “Fairytale” for me was one of those songs; there was so much power behind this specific part which couldn’t be captured in studios as well as it is captured live.
Comment below any song you think he sang better live as compared to the studio recording 🙂⚡️Let’s hear what you’ve got!

Reporter: “Elvis, there is quite an evidence of sartorial splendor…uhhh, does this indicate that the uhhh…”
Elvis: “Of whaaaat?…whaaat?”
From February 25, 1970 at the Houston Astrodome, Elvis always had great interview content. You never know what was going to happen or what he would say.

Welcome to “The On Stage Season” FTD which features the January 26, 1970 (Opening Show) and February 23, 1970 (Closing Show).
A favorite track on this FTD is “Kentucky Rain” and the specific parts featured in this clip. The power here is unlike other performances and I just about lost my mind when hearing it for the first time years ago. Hope you enjoy!
Other noteworthy favorites featured on this release include live performances of “True Love Travels On A Gravel Road” and “Let It Be Me”. If you haven’t heard these, step into January and February 1970 with me. It’s something you don’t want to miss.

“You are my heart, my soul, my dream come true. All that I am, I am…because of you.”
- “All That I Am” from the movie “Spinout” (1966).
In this film released in January 1966, Elvis plays the character of Mike McCoy, a singing race car driver. Although the plots of Elvis’ late-60’s movies were not the greatest, the soundtracks have some incredible gems. Case in point with this song here and honestly the entire “Spinout” soundtrack.
Comment your favorite song from this movie below. In case you need a reminder of the songs in this film, I’ve got you covered.
(1) “Stop Look and Listen“
(2) “Adam and Evil”

(5) “Am I Ready”
(6) “Beach Shack”

One of the greatest talents of Elvis’s voice is how he could easily sing so quiet, so controlled, and so gentle…then become an absolute powerhouse and belt out notes like this.
It really is the little things like this about his voice which make him stand out from the rest.
