Hey guys! You may have caught a glimpse of my son’s new bedding in stories last week. I have wanted one of these for a couple years now. So, I’m so honored to be able to own one and show you all why it’s so awesome! After a lot of tears one day after I asked my son to make his bed, I knew a @beddys would be a great solution for him. It’s an all in one fitted sheet, loose sheet, and comforter that fits right onto the mattress. You just zip the top on and off, just like you would with a sleeping bag! This thing is so pillowy soft and I’m not going to lie, I’m a little jealous he gets to have this in his room 😊.

HUGE blank wall? No problem.
So… I know we just moved in a couple of weeks ago, and we were away all of last week, but if you know me, you know I can’t live with bare walls for long. I had been wracking my brain with what do with this HUGE wall behind our sectional. I contemplated doing a gallery wall, but with my boy’s toys contantly messing up this room, I knew a gallery would make it feel too cluttered. I wanted a dark wood frame and I wanted to cover at least half of the wall, so it was a no brainer to go with @frameiteasy to get the exact look I was going for. You can live in a temporary rental and still make it your own. I didn’t touch the walls or the carpet in here, obviously, but it’s amazing how much a space can change with different furniture, decor, and an area rug. If you feel stuck with your matching set, and want to create a different feel for your space, try painting or staining your furniture different colors! HER 🌟
Finally got my dream fridge today and now the kitchen is “almost” complete. I need to touch up these thrifted vintage counter stools I shortened, and we still don’t have a vent hood, but this kitchen is finally looking more like my style and less like a builder grade special. I tried my best to keep the countertops as budget friendly as possible, but the fridge was definitely a splurge 🖤. Now off to pan fry some fish sticks for my kids… without a vent hood 😬. Who wants to send me some extra candles 🤣. Have a wonderful night friends!

I don’t put much thought into my clothes or hair, clearly, BUT I did put a ton of thought into the floors we put in our new home. After searching for months for new floors I went back and forth between laminates and lvps. ORC Week 5: Wallpapered the kitchen nook! If you followed along in stories, you know that I ran out of wallpaper right at the last section! I was able to use about 6 of my scraps to piece together the rest, and you would never know! What you may not know about me is that I’ve done this many times before. The backyard is turning out to be my favorite.
I’ve been working so much on each room in this house over the past 2 years. Some rooms I’ve already redone 2-3 times trying to get it right. We’ve also poured our blood sweat and tears into landscaping our backyard each season and we’re finally getting to sit back and appreciate all of it. I still have a few rooms that look similar to the before photos and I plan to take my time on the those. If I had one piece of advice when buying a home, it would be: focus on 2-3 spaces that you use the most often and don’t worry so much about the rest. I gave myself so much unnecessary stress trying to make every room look perfect. I plan to take a few months off from constantly re-doing spaces in my house and learn to just appreciate what I’ve already accomplished. I’ll still share photos and videos of my spaces but I just don’t have the energy to re-do any of them. And I shouldn’t have to… even tho Instagram makes us feel that way.

Minivans are not only for kids.
Do you know how many sellers have asked me “Do you have help? or Do you have a truck?”. My response is always “I’ve got this.” My minivan gets me into a lot of trouble when thrifting. The second I saw this dresser at Habitat, I ran to the counter and paid immediately before anyone else could take it. I then proceeded to take all the drawers out and carry it by myself out to the parking lot. I somehow even managed to carry this all the way up to our bedroom on the 2nd floor myself (if you look at my previous posts you know that’s a lot of stairs 🥵). This is my ___th dresser I’ve brought home and my minivan helps me do it 💪🏼🖤. Let’s just say, my husband is looking for a sedan for me instead. jk.

Details: Sanded with 80 grit sandpaper with my orbital sander. Sprayed with Polycrylic Matte Spray to seal and protect.

The final touch 🤎
It’s crazy how a foyer with 24+ ft ceilings can feel so dark…yet sterile, all at the same time. I wanted the foyer to feel like the most welcoming part of the house, which your entryway to your home should feel! Changing the floors, balusters, and stain on the stairs was key. But, also finding the right pieces to create the vibe I was going for, has taken some time. Last week I added this vintage secretary desk and this weekend I added the final perfect touch: this ultra vintage rug by @unique.loom. They have a huge variety of gorgeous vintage rugs as well as a ton of beautiful, affordable machine loomed rugs. I have been searching for something unique for this space (as well as a rug that wouldn’t interfere with the walkway between the playroom and main hallway). I’d say this rug was meant to be 🥰 /AD/
