Happy International Women’s Day from all of us at The Scratching Post! In honor of this day, read about the VHHS gymnastics team and their record breaking season in our upcoming March issue! The team placed 2nd in state and have had a long journey to get there. Learn about Livy Tran who placed first in vault and Annika Chudy who placed 3rd on the beam and 5th all around this Friday when the news hit the stands!!

On Friday, March 4th, the first Affinity Project meeting was hosted at VHHS. The project was organized and run by senior Anthony Zarate Espinoza. Students from all races and ethnicities were invited to talk over different challenges they face as minorities at VHHS. Parents brought in dishes from different cultures and students had the chance to try out new foods.

This past week, VHHS seniors Dasha Lukinova and Liza Kalika organized a donation drive to gather much-needed supplies for Ukrainian refugees. They received several boxes for donations last Friday (3/4), and are accepting donations through Monday (3/7). Students interested in donating can view the list of accepted donations .ssa , or by contacting Dasha Lukinova or Liza Kalika.

On Saturday, February 26th the Turnabout dance took place at VHHS. The “Out of this World” theme brought in some new features to the dance like a disco ball and a skating rink, while the foyer served a variety of dippin dots flavors. Masks were optional, and no negative tests or vaccine cards were required for admission.
