A jade burial suit is a ceremonial suit made of pieces of jade in which royal members in Han dynasty China were buried.

The suit is constructed of 4,248 custom cut jade pieces connected by gold wire. Jade suits were first documented in literature around 320 AD.

During the Han Dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD), members of imperial family were buried in jade burial suits. Jade was believed to possess magical properties that would protect the body from decay and ward off evil spirits.

The Ksar Draa in Timimoun, Algeria, is an ancient ruin that stands out in the middle of an ocean of dunes, and it"s history has been lost over the centuries. The only news related to it is that for a certain period of time it was occupied by the Jews of the Timimoun region

EGYPT 29519] "Column in Hathor Temple at Dendera." The shafts of the columns in the outer hypostyle hall (or pronaos) of the Hathor Temple at Dendera are covered with intricate decorations. One of the more conspicuous figures is Heh, the god of eternity, depicted in a crouching position. He is holding a (leafless) palm stem in each hand, which symbolized long life to the Egyptians, the years being represented by the notches on the stem. The winged lion-headed serpents are personifications of the cobra goddess Wadjet. Sadly, a row of Hathor heads has been defaced. This part of the Dendera Temple was built during the Roman period (first century AD). Photo Mick Palarczyk.

Statue of a Nursing Woman

The nursing woman sits on the ground with one knee raised. Against the hammock of cloth formed by her skirt stretched over her knee she holds a child whose yellow skin indicates she is a girl. With one hand the woman holds the child’s head, while with the other she offers her breast to the child.

The child’s head is tilted back, either to gaze at the woman as nursing children may do, or perhaps in frustration as she cannot reach the breast. Behind the woman a red-painted and therefore male child kneels and pulls her second breast beneath her arm so that he can nurse, too.

Old Kingdom, 5th Dynasty, reign of Niuserre or later, ca. 2420-2389 BC or later. Painted limestone. Probably from Tomb of Nikauinpu, Memphite region, Giza. Now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. 26.7.1405

1,000 year-old copper (99.5% pure) arrowhead attached to a piece of barbed bone. It was found in a melting patch of ice near Carcross in Yukon, northwestern Canada. It is one of the earliest examples of copper metallurgy ever found in the Yukon, well before any contact with Europeans.

Profile head inlay facing right cast in deep red glass. The facial features are well articulated. The eye was once inlaid, likely in a material of a contrasting color. There are small fragments of a white glass headdress still attached to the top of the head and the back of the neck. In good condition with a few minor nicks and scratches.

واحد من أجمل وأكثر التماثيل دهشة وبراعة لابن مصر البار، والملك المُحارب والمعماري الشهير، الملك رمسيس الثاني.

صُنع هذا التمثال المُذهـل من حجـر الدايوريـت الأسود، وهو نفس الحجر الذي صُننع منه تمثال الملك حفرع الشهير، وكذلك حجر رشيد، وهو من الأحجار النارية الشديدة الـصلابـة، لونه يتراوح ما بين الرمادي إلى الرمادي الداكن.

هذا التمثال يُمثّل تحفة من روائع فنّ النحت المصري يُمثّله في صورة مختلفة عن الهيئات الملكـيّة الرسمية التي كانت مألوفة من قبـل، فيـظهر المـلك جالـساً على كرسـي العرش، مستنداً بظهره على عمود عليه كتابات، مرتدياً لباساً مصريّاً فضفاضاً، وعلى رأسه التاج الأزرق، او تـاج الخبرش (خوذة القتال والحرب)، ويمسك بصولجان الحقا (السُلطة) في يده، بينما يرتـدي في قدمـيه حذاء ذا سيـور (صـندل) يدهس به أعداء مصر المُحيطين بها، المُمثّلين في شكل تسعة أقواس، تأكيداً لهيمنة الملك المُطلقة على مصر والبلاد الأجنبية ..

على يمين الملك بجوار ساقه من أسفل تمثال صغير لزوجته المفضلة نڤـرتاري، مكتوب تحـتها «المحبوبة من إلـهة طيبة»، وعلى الجانب الأيسر تمثال صغير لابنه آمون حرخبشف.

صنع التمثال في وقت مُبكّر من فترة حُكمة الطويلة (1279 - 1213 قبل الميلاد)، في عصر الأسرة المصرية التاسعة عشر، من المملكة الحديثة، ويعدّ هذا التمثال أشهر قطعة أثريّة في متحف تورين، بإيطاليا، إذ يُمثّل تمثال رمسيس هذا مفخرة المتحف.

Bust of a Priestess of Hathor

The priestess served the Egyptian cow goddess Hathor who unlike many other gods and goddesses had both male and female servants. Egyptian priests were meant to serve the gods and with this responsibility many of them had to follow strict rules to fulfill their duties.
