Strong & Courageous // There are a few reasons why I love this photo. At the beginning of this year I told myself that I wanted to challenge myself by approaching people to ask if I can take their photo. This was the first time I had ever done it.

On Sunday, May 5th, I saw this family holding their signs along the sidewalks of backroads after church. Seeing that we shared common beliefs, I felt led to approach them. I was a bit nervous, but also excited. They were so happy that I asked to take their photo, and invited me to join them the next time they held up truth.

With how unsafe the world is now, I admire their strength and courage to share their belief in God so openly. It inspired me to be courageous in what I’d challenged myself with at the start of this year, and this was a great first opportunity to do so.

Naturally one would say that this is a photo of strangers, but brothers and sisters in Christ are no stranger to me.

has really inspired me to incorporate movement into my photography. While riding passenger, I slowed my shutter speed down to 1/10 and experimented with moving the camera in different ways as I took each photo. Lots and lots of trial and error, but I really like how this one turned out.

When I see a rainbow I am reminded of what is deserved, and am thankful for what is received.

I love photographing houses. // Especially older ones. I think as modern architecture has become so minimalistic, houses tend to lose the certain character and intimacy that older homes have. This is Rodolfo. // Rodolfo has worked at my favorite mexican restaurant, Los Bravos on South Cobb Dr., since I was a kid (and maybe before I was a kid). I appreciate how he’s always remembered my family.

I brought my now fiancé () here soon after we started dating in 2019, and ever since then he has remembered my order: a #12 with no beans and double rice.

His service is excellent and is always accompanied by a kind smile. He loves what he does and it shows. If you’re in the Smyrna area, stop by Los Bravos, ask for Rodolfo, maybe get yourself a #12 with no beans and double rice, and leave him a nice tip!

Not My Home // This photo was taken in the Apple store. I never spoke to this woman, and I never saw her face. I have no way of proving of this, but when I look at this picture, I get a very strong feeling that the U.S. is just where she lives, and that she feels a heavy burden for a home that she cannot reach.

It stands out to me that she sits on one of the only seats that looks different. As if she’s surrounded by a stagnant culture that she refuses to participate in.

I’d love to hear any other interpretations of this photo.
