We sadly have to announce the loss of one of own - Sandy Matusik passed away in his sleep at his home in Winnipeg on Nov 25.

Sandy was the original bassist with Big John Bates, playing on 2001's "Flamethrower" album. Sandy was previously in Bates Motel, recording and touring for the 1996 "Tales of Ordinary Madness" album with John Bates, Kermit Mcfedries and Quinn Russell. (Photo is from the video shoot for "A Found God" on YouTube, Quinn, myself and Sandy).

Sandy was always ready to go and was a caring, passionate and humorous man. His Infectious smile and attitude will be missed by all of us; his family, friends and everyone who shared a stage with him.

We just loaded the original 78 recorded by Big John Bates's birth father onto Frontman Records bandcamp. Phil Baker & the Beau-Marks - (yes the real Beau-Marks) recorded two songs in 1961 and we just discovered and digitized them. All proceeds go to help find a CURE FOR CANCER.

Looks like the American government is trying to keep artists out of the country again. A 250% increase to fees is being considered and if US artists don't take a stand against it then many small and mid-level bands around the world will lose access to the US of A

The possibility of touring the United States could be out of reach for many Canadian musicians after U.S. Department of Homeland Security proposed an increase to visa fees for international entertainers.
