David Fahey grew up in Cleveland’s West Park neighborhood, graduated from St. Edward High School served in United States Navy, earned his Emergency Medical Technician certification before being appointed to the Cleveland Police Department on July 7, 2014. He followed in the footsteps of his mother and step-father, Jackie and Mark Ketterer, brother Christopher Porter, and cousin Barry Bentley. David was issued badge number 2453, which had previously been worn by his step-father when he was a patrol officer.

While assigned to the Cleveland Police First District on January 24, 2017, he and his partner were dispatched to assist another agency investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident on Interstate 90. Fahey was in the process of redirecting traffic with road flares when he was struck and killed by a hit and run driver.

Yesterday, with the appointment of Angelina Hamilton Steiner to former Councilperson Tristan Rader's unexpired term, Council achieved a majority of female representation for the first time in our City's history. Councilwoman Hamilton Steiner is also the first person of color to serve on Lakewood City Council.

The proposed Railside Park Subdivision would turn a narrow strip of land between Donald Avenue and Thoreau Road owned by the Norfolk & Western Railway Company into a dozen condominiums.

On November 7th, Jenn suffered an aneurysm/stroke. She subsequently was admitted to the hospital for 4 weeks. 5 surgeries later, Jenn is now doing great and healing at home. But, that of course comes with at least 3 additional months out of work.

There's no cover for the night, although donations will not be turned down.

There will also be a few AMAZING raffle baskets available, with contents donated by our talented friends and generous local businesses.

Welcome to Finance Friday! Each Friday in January we will share some basics about our district finances. Up today: Days Cash on Hand.

One key measure that reflects a district's financial health is its Days Cash on Hand. This metric provides insight into how well a district is prepared to meet its short-term obligations without additional cash inflows.

For schools, it is a best practice to keep 30 to 60 days of cash on hand.

In our district’s latest Five-Year Forecast, you will notice the steady decline of cash on hand over the next five years. This is a trend all school districts experience as expenses increase due to a variety of factors, including inflation, while revenues remain relatively stagnant.

School districts often address declining cash balances through reducing staff through attrition, exploring opportunities for grant funding or seeking the approval of an additional levy.

Hello Folks! We wanted to send out a heartfelt thank you to everyone who braved the long lines and winter weather last weekend to attend our Garage Sale / Memorial. Your support was nothing short of overwhelming, and we felt the love and appreciated each and every story or memory shared!!!

While the restaurant may be physically closed, the spirit of Melt Bar and Grilled will be back in some capacity in the future. Stay tuned for what’s next—we can’t wait to share it with you!

In the meantime, stay warm, be kind to each other, and know how much we have appreciated each and every one of you that has supported us over the last 18 years.
