Serving mediocre food in the name of fine dining?
📍: Brisket and Bistro, Dhanmondi
Brisket & Bistro created quite a stir in the heart of foodies as it promised proper fine dining experience in Dhanmondi. Went to this place a few weeks ago, and had a major disappointing experience.
I’ve seen people go absolutely crazy for their Pesto Pasta, and I knew I had to give it a shot. Well, it surely shot me down with its bland, tasteless pesto sauce and paper dry chicken. As an avid pasta fan, this felt disheartening.
The Tuscan Chicken comes with a grilled chicken, smothered in a sauce, that I wasn’t able to distinguish at all, thanks to its basic, unflavoured recipe. It was paired with sautéed vegetables and, again, tasteless rice.
The drinks, Lemon Iced Tea and Berry Mojito, were somewhat acceptable. I could draw the silver lining with these two drinks, somehow. Brownie points for the beautiful presentation.
The service was a big let down as well. We had to repeatedly call the waiters to come and take our order and bill. The place was not heavily packed, so I don’t understand why there was such a laid back attitude.
Seeing all the videos and posts, it makes me wonder if it was me who got unlucky. You tell me in the comments!

Guys, if you haven’t tried the Malai Lassi from Naval Point Dhanmondi yet, then YOU ARE MISSING OUT!
Rich, creamy milk concoction with chopped nuts and thick malai, a gem of a drink ONLY at 70 taka.
I hope they maintain the same consistency because this is definitely the drink of summer! SO SO SO GOOD 😭

Grilled - Underrated food UNDER 500BDT?
A diverse range of food found in one restaurant with a large seating capacity including outdoor space; Grilled has always seemed like an undiscovered restaurant to me.
Tried their Honey Lime Chicken platter (480BDT), Double Trouble burger (480BDT) and French Fries (180BDT). The food arrived promptly and the service was satisfactory too.
Coming to the taste, the Honey Lime Chicken was a unique treat for my tastebuds. The sweet and sour taste of the crispy chicken was actually really amazing. Came with basil rice, poached egg and cold salad. Very fulfilling and delicious. The Double Trouble burger had chicken patty (beef is available too) with chicken nuggets, cheese, caramelised onions and lettuce. This could be a tad better, but it wasn’t all too bad, so if you want, you can give it a shot. Lastly, I really liked the French fries. It seems that they’re quite an expert in frying food perfectly. The fries were crispy and came with a ranch-like dip.
Overall, I liked the food, ambience and service of Grilled, and would definitely visit again.

One of my top picks for Alfredo Pasta is definitely at Griddle, located in Dhanmondi.
Griddle is easily one of the most reasonable options in Dhanmondi, with prices as low as 190BDT.
This Creamy Chicken and Mushroom pasta has always been my favorite, with its super cheesy and delicious Alfredo sauce, paired with ample amount of chicken and mushroom. This has been the only item which hasn’t disappointed me, no matter how many times I ordered.
The second picture is the Teriyaki Chicken platter, with French fries and fried rice as sides. This dish, unfortunately, was not up to the mark. The teriyaki chicken was too sweet and rice being super greasy, this platter has definitely deteriorated.
They have “pay first” system now, however it seems that providing prompt service is their “last” of priorities.
All in all, I’ll definitely go back for their pasta only. Too good.

RANT POST ALERT
Dhanmondi has a number of restaurants serving breakfasts, be it English or Bengali. My most favourite would be Star Kabab, due to its fast service, pricing and quality (though Star, too, is losing its charm unfortunately).
Anyway, wanted to go out for breakfast today at Star, but that was closed, so we went to Sampan, at Dhanmondi 27 to have breakfast. I have visited this place a number of times and have always had issues with their poor service. Today, there was a huge rush, maybe due to today being a holiday and maybe because Star Kabab was closed, but almost all the seats were taken. Anyway, we went and got ourselves a table by the corner and believe me, we waited 35-40 minutes JUST to get the menu. We kept on calling the staff, but nobody seemed to bother to come and at least have the courtesy to give us the menu. Went to the reception and asked them why they aren’t taking the order, and then they sent a waiter maybe 10-12 minutes later. Next, the waiter mentioned that all the items were sold out except “mutton paya” and “chicken soup”, so we went ahead and ordered that. While we waited for the next 30-35 minutes, we saw nobody getting food on time, customers complaining left and right and even people having to get up again and again just to get the attention of the waiters. The waiters ran and rushed, but literally none of them had a plate in their hands. Just dekhacche je onek kaaj oder. Anyway, after making us wait for more than half an hour, the waiter comes and says, “paya shesh, kolija diye jai?” And he doesn’t even wait for us to respond and brings “kolija bhuna” to the table. I DID NOT WANT KOLIJA BHUNA???
This place needs to train their staff well and make them prepare for days when the crowd is big. I’ve visited Sampan on days when there were 2-3 tables taken only and yet they gave us a super slow service. Wasted literally two hours and got no food.
SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT, SAMPAN.

Ramadan Finds || Rustic Eatery Banani
This Ramadan was different than the past ones; found no proper place serving hearty and affordable meals for iftar. Amidst all the options, thought of going to followed by a hot and cold experience.
Ordered the iftar platter 1 and 2, which consisted of a lot of different items. Although the portion sizes were immaculate, and could easily fill a person, but the taste was just not hitting. The chicken was salty, all the items were dipped in the same sauce, overpowered by salt.
The dessert was a mousse-like thing in a jar, which doesn’t justify as a dessert itself. Didn’t like the mush and later the chocolate sticking on the roof of the mouth.
Upon telling they said, “Ajke first iftar toh ejonne.” (It was the first Ramadan)
The only good sides of the platter were the drink, the portion size and prompt service.

Those of you who have followed me know how much I liked Rustic Eatery, and this experience was just not it.

Start your Sehri on a delicious note with Quaker Oats, a perfect blend of taste and nutrition for a blessed Ramadan.
Morning Nourishment: Quaker Oats Veggie Bowl for Sehri.
Ingredients:
• ½ cup Quaker Oats
• 2 pieces cauliflower
• 1 capsicum
• 1 piece carrot,
• 1 large onion
• 1 green chilli
• Green peas (as needed)
• Raisins (as per taste)
• Salt (to taste)
• ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
• 1 cup water
• 1 cinnamon stick
• Olive oil
Instructions:
• Chop the vegetables: First, chop and thoroughly wash all the vegetables.
• Cook and Flavour the Oats: In a pan, heat the olive oil and add the chopped vegetables. Let them sauté to aromatic perfection. Then season the mixture with salt and turmeric to enhance the flavours. Now, add the Quaker oats, pour in a cup of water, and allow the mixture to cook.
• Serve: Once done, garnish with your preferred toppings and serve the dish piping hot.

Newest restaurant in Dhanmondi serving delicious Thai cuisine. It is a newly opened restaurant with a really creative interior and prompt service.
I tried various items from the menu and I was blown away with the quality and taste. The food had the correct hit of Thai flavours and the proportions were great as well.
I had a great time at .bd and would recommend everyone to visit with their friends and family!

I got the Sesame Peanut Chicken Bowl which comes with a large chicken thigh, grilled and full of flavours, jasmine rice and a peanut sauce which had a tangy taste due to lemon juice in it. All in all, I really enjoyed this hearty bowl of food and would recomend this to the ones who opt for a healthier option as their diet!

Pagla Baburchi is well known for its “biye bari” based delicacies, with a unique take on the ever popular desserts.
Ordered the Polao Roast for one platter which came with “simply polao”, “chicken roast” and “chicken jaali kabab”, and the Shahi Tukra. The mains were quite delicious and not overpowering at all. It was a hearty meal which I really enjoyed. However, the star was the shahi tukra which comes with a topping of mascarpone cheese. It was insanely good and I cannot wait to have it again.

Tasty Treat is nothing but a scam these days. Bought these two “chicken burgers” from Tasty Treat, and found mould in the chicken patties. The chicken was cold and had a pungent smell from it. The overall quality was so poor that I didn’t have the slightest appetite to eat it.
Cost 220BDT for two.

The newest hype in Dhaka - @smashed.dhk Items I recommend: From the appetisers, I tried two different types of fries, long and short, and both of them were fresh and crispy, however, I would definitely lean towards the long fries as they were crispier. The nuggets were good too, but the show stealer was definitely the absolutely mouthwatering chicken tenders, in four different flavours: zesty lemon, parmesan, naga and honey lime. The chicken fries were perfect as well, I have been looking for an alternative to BFC’s chicken fries and I am so happy to have finally found one. The parmesan chicken fry was to die for, SO SO good. The rice options were flavourful and would be great to pair with the chicken. Now, coming to the BEST part, the BURGERS! Oh my god, I fell in love with the concept of burgers again! Details: @steakatlonestar serves THE BEST Lobster Thermidor, and I have been saying it since 2022. It’s cheesy, creamy and the flavours just melt in your mouth. Not to forget, the delicious lobster meat which wraps around the complete taste beautifully. Comes with two sides. I also ordered their newly launched platter, called the Supreme Chicken, which is an amazing option if you’re not opting for steaks at Lonestar. The chicken items were cooked perfectly and had prominent flavours overall. The Cheesy Loaded Fries were definitely loaded, came with sausages, french fries, pepperoni, melted cheese and a perfect sunny side up on top. Loved it absolutely!
