The Universal Beijing Resort (UBR) is showing promise to become more than just a magical land for cinephiles around the world, as the soft opening has given a look into foodie heaven.
The park has seven themed zones and hosts a total of 80 restaurants and food stalls that serve all kinds of food that one can name from different movies.

Poon Choi, traditional meal on Lunar New Year's Eve for Hong Kong
Poon Choi, traditional meal on Lunar New Year's Eve for Hong Kong
It is a Chinese tradition for family members to have a rich family reunion dinner on the Eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year, while in Hong Kong, the characteristic meal is Poon Choi.
Originated from walled villages in Hong Kong, Poon Choi is a long-standing tradition symbolizing happiness of family.
Poon Choi is Hong Kong locals' favorite dish.
As its name suggests, the way to cook Poon Choi is to put raw materials into a big pot called Poon and let them stew. Many layers of different ingredients are put into the pot. The ingredients that can absorb broth easily are usually put in the lower layer, "stewed pork" is put in the middle layer and high-end ingredients such as abalone, fish maw and prawns are put in the top layer. In the process of cooking, a happy and harmonious atmosphere of reunion is created.
"They are mainly dined with family members. It is about family atmosphere. It symbolizes happiness of family. I have made Poon Choi for many years and I feel a festive atmosphere, an atmosphere of a lunar new year holiday," said Lee Wai leung, chef of Hong Kong Bouwu Catering Group.
Poon Choi seeks after luck. So every ingredient of Poon Choi is special. In Cantonese, the pronunciation of dried oyster is similar to "lucky things" and lettuce shares the same pronunciation with "creating wealth". Pork belly means "wealthy life" and abalone with the shape of gold ingot symbolizes "bringing in wealth and treasure".
"Chinese people have such a tradition. They hope the family will be reunited and perfect. They also hope they can make a 'bowl' of money. After the release of the National Security Law, the Hong Kong society is much more stable, as people can see. Residents are all living a peaceful life," said Chow ciu soeng, honorary president of Global Chef God International Professional Association in Hong Kong.

Over-supply of oranges prompts use of online sales in South China's Guangxi
A surplus of oranges this season is driving down prices of the fruit in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and prompting some farmers to use alternative sales methods to try and make profits.
Hundreds of thousands of kilograms of oranges are hanging on trees in an orchard in a village in Naqin Township, Shangsi County. The owner of the orchard says he planted more than 100 mu (about 6.7 hectares) of oranges, and the output is expected to reach more than 150,000 kilograms this year. The surplus and resulting low prices, however, have him worried.
"The oranges sold for 5 to 5.2 yuan (roughly 0.8 U.S. dollars) per kilogram after the last Spring Festival. But this year, they cannot sell even for 1.2 to 1.4 yuan (around 0.2 U.S. dollars)," said Mo Jinliang, the orchard owner.
The reason for the high prices is the expected over-supply of oranges. Rising production this year has depressed the purchasing price, making farmers reluctant to sell them.
"It's a bumper harvest year again, so the purchasing price of oranges is low, and fruit farmers are not willing to sell at a low price," said Li Jieling, secretary of the Naqin Township committee of the Communist Party of China.
Shangsi County is the main fruit production area in the region. The orange planting area is 15,000 mu (around 1,000 hectares), with an estimated output of more than 30,000 tons.
The local government is trying to help farmers expand the market through online and offline promotions.
"We sell oranges through online e-commerce platforms. In addition, we have built some on-site refrigerated warehouses in towns and townships rich in fruit supplies to store agricultural products. We will sell them after the prices go up," said Li Ting, director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Shangsi County.
Local excursions, family travels become popular with Chinese tourists during Spring Festival
Local excursion trips and family travels became popular with domestic tourists opting to stay where they are to spend their Spring Festival holiday in response to the call for reducing the movement of people amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the Beijing government advised people to celebrate the Spring Festival without leaving the city, the bookings of hotels amid the holiday in Gubei Water Town in suburban Beijing continued to heat up.
"Business conferences and package tours that used to be quite hot in previous years have been severely impacted. However, reservations for our family vacations are still OK. Basically, the occupancy rate of our hotel rooms can reach 40 to 50 percent," said Li Yuan, assistant to the president of Gubei Shuizhen Tourism Co., Ltd.
Due to the fact that Chinese tourists opt domestic excursions instead of international trips for the lunar New Year celebrations at places where they live and work, orders for four-and five-star hotels accounted for 66.8 percent of the total during the holidays, according to Trip.com Group. At the same time, the demand for popular homestays around first-tier and new first-tier cities is rapidly rising as well.
Industrial insiders say that tourists are more inclined to choose excursions to celebrate the annual traditional holiday, compare to previous years. Meanwhile, tourism practitioners have also provided more programs for consumers to experience the traditional culture amid the pandemic.
"This kind of vacation is different from the previous ones as it expects rich cultural and educational activities to be offered in the hotel and scenic spots. In fact, the boundaries between tourism products and life products will be eliminated in the future, and tourism products in the future are likely to be life-oriented," said Wei Xiang, associate professor of the National Academy of Economic Strategy with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Operation team at Shougang Industrial Park to prepare for Beijing Winter Olympics
The operation team at the Shougang Industrial Park, one of the competition venues of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, is making preparations for the ski jump event.
The site, located in the western part of Beijing, is the world's first permanent ski jump venue. Four gold medals will be contested at the site.
At the moment, the operation team is making sure that the event will be held safely, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"After the operational team was established, the priority now is team building. In addition, we are working on a team management plan for daily epidemic control in keeping with relevant requirements and preparing for the Winter Olympics," said Zhao Wei, secretary-general of the Shougang Venue Operation Team.
