This week on my NewsTalk STL show, we discussed the news about changes to the Selective Service system. While politicians debate the possibility of requiring women to register (or be registered automatically) alongside men, I asked a different question.

Is a military draft, or even the possibility of one, compatible with a free society that values individual liberty?

Mike Ferguson in the Morning 06-17-24 Discussion on reinstating a military draft that would possibly include women. Do you agree with that? The House passed a large defense bill on Friday evening that included a provision that would automatically enroll young men between the ages of 18 and 26 for th...

Why is the Liberty Justice Center suing the Illinois State Police?

Because of their camera system set up to watch highway traffic.

In this NewsTalk STL discussion, LJC attorney Reilly Stephens explains why they are suing over the system (and plans to expland it) and why they don't want law enforcement, or other government entity, surveilling...well...you.

Mike Ferguson in the Morning 06-03-24 Reilly Stephens from the Liberty Justice Center talks about the lawsuit against the Illinois State Police and Illinois law enforcement officials regarding their surveillance camera network along state highways. When Congress and President Biden agreed to a bill that sends international aid to multiple nations, it included a section requiring TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, to sell or otherwise divest the social media platform.

That's because of the company's connections to the Chinese Communist Party. If they don't divest, TikTok will essentially be banned in the US.

Supporters of the measure (both Republican and Democratic) argue that it's a metter of national security.

In a recent Forbes article, James Broughel from the Competitive Enterprise Institute argues that the ban, if that happens, will be a blow to intellectual discourse in the US.

Here's the American Viewpoints with Mike Ferguson discussion about that.

The recently-passed law requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok will certainly be litigated for months, if not years. Supporters say it's important national security in an age where the digital world can be a battlefield along with the physical world. What are the costs? In this discussion, James Broughe...

In this NewsTalk STL discussion, Stel, Gabe (St. John the Philosopher), and I step bck and try to look at the attack, the new war, and the reactions from around the world to it all in a bigger-picture way.

Our Story

This is the page where the media activities and efforts of Mike Ferguson are blatantly and shamelessly promoted.

Maybe a more marketable way to say that is...this is a central hub of sorts for the projects being worked on my Mike Ferguson Media (the media production and consulting business of, obviously, Mike Ferguson). Check out "Missouri Viewpoints", Mike’s weekly public affairs program that's now on the air in over 85% of the Show Me State. Mike is also a regular guest on radio stations throughout Missouri - and occasionally in other parts of the Midwest - and is a frequent guest host on talk stations around the state.

This is the page to keep up with Mike's media projects...radio, television or in print...and be the first to see and hear them. Some of the projects are news and public affairs, some are documentary, some are radio, and there will be occasional blog posts and podcasts posted here. The last two formats could center on any kind of topic. Thanks for stopping by!
