A special announcement from Founder and Editor-in-Chief ! 📢✨

“I am officially back to writing features and reviews with - 🎭✨

As I am no longer promoting or creating content for any Long Island theaters, I am now comfortable resuming my work for the publication, which - for full transparency -was put on a hiatus to avoid any potential perception of a conflict of interest. With my background as a reporter and freelance writer for many Long Island publications, I have had the opportunity to work under and be taught by editors and professors who inspired my commitment to journalistic integrity. That commitment - in addition to the promise of well-written and diverse content - is a major part of Long Island Theatre Scene's mission and has been since its launch in October of 2018.

If previously featured your theater in a review or feature, we'd be thrilled to return. However, we also implore smaller and developing groups/projects across the Island to reach out for coverage!

Send a message over to the page or email [email protected] and I'll try to get back to you some time in the coming week. While it remains a small publication at this time, I hope to offer the community a great deal of content in the coming months.

If you are not familiar with Long Island Theatre Scene, take a look at our page (which may sound familiar as it is the host page of Long Island Theatre Scene Group) and visit LongIslandTheatreScene.com, where you can read all of our page articles and reviews.

In every cover letter I've written in the past decade, I emphasize I am a writer first and foremost and I am thrilled to return to the keyboard while experiencing all the fantastic productions and events taking place on Long Island stages!” 🙌🏻

Our deepest condolences go out to the friends, family, and castmates of Frank Ambrosini. We had the pleasure of seeing him perform while in attendance of "All Shook Up" at CM Performing Arts Center in January of 2020 and he was a delight to watch as Sheriff Earle. The outpouring of stories about his dedication, loving energy, and his passion for the theatre is a testament to how much he will be missed in this community.

"Art, in itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos." - Stephen Sondheim

Thank you, Mr. Sondheim, for teaching us how to navigate this often confusing world through your music, lyrics, and heart. You taught us that "no one is alone." You guided us to "move on." You inspired us to reflect on "being alive." You were not only a masterful composer and lyricist, but one of the most influential educators in many people's lives. For those of us whose lives you changed, we will strive to finish our own hats in your honor.

After a significant hiatus, we are back and ready to provide you with an intimate look at Long Island theatre projects and the artists behind them. Below you will read a brief summary of our new mission. Ultimately, we want to offer smaller or emerging theaters an opportunity to share their ongoing work with the public via a third-party media publication.

Coverage of theatre in our region has declined over the years and we understand that the publications currently covering theatre on Long Island can only review or feature so many productions per week. With that being said, we are hoping to give all artists a platform regardless of venue size, years of business, or equity status.

Long Island Theatre Scene is 100% self-funded and is fueled simply by a passion for theatre.

Keep an eye on our social media and website - longislandtheatrescene.com - for new interviews, photo previews, features, editorials, and more in the next few months 🎭

If you are seeking coverage of an upcoming production or are interested in writing editorials concerning current events and issues in the community, please message us here or send us an email at [email protected]

Everybody rejoice! Live theatre is slowly returning to Long Island. We at Long Island Theatre Scene look forward to reporting on more reopenings and getting back to reviewing all the wonderful productions in store!

With last week's news of arts & entertainment restrictions being partially lifted, we can finally announce what we've been waiting a full year to say - 'CM Performing Arts Center is Safely Reopening'.

While we had been hoping to say those seven words for many months, saying them now is even more exciting, emotional, and meaningful.

View our reopening information and upcoming shows at www.cmpac.com.

A Digital Publication for Everything Theatre on Long Island

Today we are faced with many options in regards to how we absorb media. While there are popular news publications covering arts and entertainment on Long Island, most do not exclusively focus on local theatre.

Long Island Theatre Scene was created with the arts community in mind. We strive to cover issues rarely discussed on mainstream outlets and give the community a chance to voice their views on issues in the theatre community.

We are a contributor based publication, but hope to bring on a permanent staff of writers, editors, and video producers as we grow.

This is a publication written by artists, for artists. Each contributor has experience in their field and shares your passion for the arts.
