Founded in early 2011 by Mark Mackenzie and Euan Coe as a College project, the loosely named 'Justice Never Sleeps' was the basis of a school joke which included quoting cliche remarks whilst jarring pupils as badly recruited prefects. Which is a weird beginning to what is now a popular club night and website with contributors, promoters and DJ's based throughout Scotland and beyond. At the beginn
ing JNS was based in Inverness as a small blog covering local music but was quickly transformed from a college project into something closer to the heart of the music scene. At the time Inverness had just started its somewhat 'electronic music revival' with the opening of the nightclub 'Cake' which took on the first of many successful Justice Never Sleeps club nights and brought JNS legend Boomshank Redemption into the family of residents and organisers. Built on the foundations of a failing economy, notorious rough around the edges interior, infamous venue and skeptic town of anti-electronic malicious rumors it was a struggle from the beginning that in the end forced the club to shut its doors. However for the exciting year that it existed it brought the electronic scene up from it knees, introduced a new generation of producers and DJ's and put Inverness on the circuit for DJ's across the UK. Justice Never Sleeps was there throughout to document it's rise and fall and translate the feeling to the people in words, sounds and pictures. After the closing of 'Cake' the scene went into limbo leaving bedroom DJ's and promoters with no means of exposure and this is where JNS became an essential member of the electronic community taking on guest mixes, interviews and features on local as well national artists to keep those interested in the loop. It wasn't long however before a second rising in the form of the now successful Karma Lounge (at the time under the name Nova). Wasting no time Justice Never Sleeps ran one of the first nights with its new residents including Retrend and Connor Byrne that brought in a full capacity crowd and put a foothold on they're still strongly running Karma Lounge club nights. To this day the owners and staff at Karma Lounge do a brilliant job to up the reputation of the local scene and bring in names who would otherwise never be there. Nowadays JNS proudly sports representatives of the website and club nights in Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. And we highly back the quality of our resident DJ's who among them have experience playing alongside names like Annie Mac, Fake Blood, Jack Beats, Simian Mobile Disco, Chase & Status, Zane Lowe, Clouds, Funk D'Void, Silicone Soul and have played or run events in the likes Sub Club, Ironworks, Soundhaus, Buff Club, 520, O'Couture, B Fest, Rockness and Belladrum Festival. With the family increasing and our network extending quickly we took the step to improve the quality and content of our website and thus we give you our current site with regular exclusive features throughout the week (www.justiceneversleeps.co.uk). Not to be one sided we also cover Alternative Music weekly. We've since stepped up our bookings with acts like Ado and Clouds performing on our nights and in the process of booking a number of Scottish dates in every corner of the country from Stornaway, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Thurso and back to Inverness. 2013 also saw us introduce our 'live night' which sets out to highlight the best up and coming live electronic acts around while focusing on bringing you a unique and comfortably social surrounding atmosphere.
