RPV: For those asking about the helo that’s been flying around the hill this afternoon, it’s SCE going back and forth (east to west)…most likely doing infrastructure surveys again. The chopper they are using today even has a similar color scheme to an LASD bird.
Lawndale (follow-up): A listener reporting there was an attempt break-in to a residence on Burin Ave, near the Library around 10:30am this morning. Keep an eye out for these two suspects and if you see anything suspicious in the area, call LASD:
Pursuit: Currently near Figueroa St/78th St. Started as two cars drag racing in the Covina area. Looks like a white Chrysler 300 with a black carbon fiber hood. CHP is the pursuing agency. Also, hearing there is possibly a 2nd (separate) pursuit happening now in LAPD jurisduction. Updated: 9:16pm PDT:

Officers recently conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Via Almar for traffic violations. During their investigation, officers found a loaded firearm in the glove box of the vehicle. The driver was subsequently arrested for illegal possession of the firearm and transported to the PVEPD jail for booking. That's another gun off our streets!
Hawthorne: Details are still a bit sketchy, but at appx 4:49pm this afternoon, HPD/LACOFD was dispatched to a jumper call at Crenshaw Blvd/Rocket Rd. Not sure if the jumper was on SpaceX property, but SpaceX Security was the reporting party, with the jumper possibly on top the 7-story parking structure across the street.
Hermosa Beach: At appx 5:08pm this afternoon, LACOFD was dispatched to an apartment house fire at 415 Herondo St. No further info available.
Hermosa Beach: Police activity near PCH/16th St. Looks like 2 vehicles attached at the bumper and smoke coming out of the white van. Screenshot from the Citizen app. Link to their post in the comments. As soon as we get additional info, we will update our post:
Hawthorne (follow-up): At appx 9:28pm last night, HPD responded to the 12700 block of Crenshaw Blvd (just north of El Segundo Blvd) to investigate the shooting of a male adult. Investigators learned the male adult was shot while walking in the parking lot of the location. An officer from the Hawthorne Police Department, patrolling the area, observed the incident and engaged in a vehicle pursuit of the suspect vehicle. At the termination of the pursuit, one individual was detained. There are outstanding suspects, described only as male adults. LACOFD responded and pronounced the victim DOA..
Gardena: Police Activity on Redondo Beach Blvd. LAPD working an incident. WB lanes blocked from Raymond to Normandie. ***The police activity has since concluded.

If anyone is interested, SpaceX is launching a Falcon-9 rocket from Vandenberg SFB at 7:02PDT this evening. Get those cameras ready and feel free to post any pix in the comments section below.
Here is a blurb about the mission from the Next Spaceflight app: The ASBM satellites will carry multiple hosted payloads including an X-Band payload for the Norwegian Ministry of Defense and a Ka-Band payload for Inmarsat. Northrop Grumman announced last year that it will also provide two Extremely High-Frequency eXtended Data Rate (EHF XDR) payloads for the Enhanced Polar System-Recapitalization (EPS-R) to the U.S. Air Force for integration on the spacecraft. The systems are designed to improve secure and continuous communications in the North Polar Region. Additionally, Northrop Grumman was selected to provide critical ground infrastructure for EPS-R.

SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft.
Hermosa Beach: Structure (garage) fire in the 1200 block of 6th St (between Hollowell Ave/Reynolds Ln).
Rat Beach: There is a beached fin whale that has a lot of people out on the sand tonight checking it out. Fox 11 chopper was overhead covering the story, but has since left the area.
According to a marine biologist, fin whales are deep water mammals and a sign of it being beached means that it is very sick. It is also covered in parasites. At this point, we haven’t heard that any resources are going to be called in to remove it. Baywatch Redondo is monitoring the situation.
Also, whatever you do, please do not get close to the whale, or go try and pet it or do anything stupid. Get your selfie from the sand and move on. It’s very sad to watch these beautiful creatures suffer and the last thing they need is for someone to mess with it.
Hermosa Beach (Training exercise): From HBAlerts: Police training occurring at Hermosa Valley and View School from 8am to 11am. Please expect sirens, alarms, and simulate gunfire.
Torrance (follow-up): Here is some additional details regarding yesterday afternoon/evening's attempted murder on Redondo Beach Blvd and subsequent su***de at El Camino College:

Torrance: Police activity near Redondo Beach Blvd/Stadium Way. TPD/TFD initially responded to a report of a stabbing in the 3300 block of Redondo Beach Blvd. When PD arrived on scene, they confirmed this was an attempted murder (stabbing). We heard from a reliable source the son stabbed his mother and the mother is being treated by FD. Fast forward a few minutes and PD is searching the area for the male. A knife was found on the 5th floor of the parking structure at El Camino College. At this point, it appears the male jumped off the 5th floor of the parking structure (su1cide) and hearing the he was pronounced deceased after being treated by TFD/LACOFD for head trauma and broken bones. Redondo Beach Blvd is closed from Crenshaw Blvd to Yukon Ave.

Yesterday evening Lomita Sheriff’s station received a call that an ambulance had been stolen in San Pedro while the EMTs were inside of a residence assisting someone.
A Lomita deputy located the stolen ambulance on the border of Rancho Palos Verdes and coordinated assisting units to his location. The ambulance thief decided jail didn’t sound like fun and he decided to lead our deputies on a short pursuit.
Luckily the suspect eventually yielded and after some convincing, was taken into custody.
The grateful EMTs were reunited with their ambulance.
Great work Deputies!
M5.3 +/- earthquake struck Kern County, appx 14 miles south of Lamont. Looking at a fault map, I’d be curious to know if this ends up being along the Garlock fault (which connects to the San Andreas fault).
Hawthorne: Police activity near El Segundo Blvd/La Cienega. CHP helo was circling for several mins, but just left the scene.
Hermosa Beach (Training Activity): “Police training activity at Valley and View School from 8am to 5pm. Expect loud noises from the area and high police presence.
Meanwhile, in Torrance…
Did you go to Hard Summer music festival this weekend? Did you have leftover Molly and L*D? 🧐 Probably not a good idea to drive through Hermosa on your way home with vehicle registration 3 years expired 🤯 This driver received a free ticket to the HBPD Bed and Breakfast and a complementary tow to the impound yard. Rumor has it, he’s still dancing in the jail.
Torrance (follow-up): Didn’t get the TPD “all-clear” from last nights shooting at Descanso Park until 6:11am this morning. So, from what we’ve been able to gather, a shooting did in fact take place in the park (shell casings found), however, no one (appears) to have been struck. Not sure if someone turned up later at the hospital. That said, two women were arrested for weapons charges.

Redondo Beach: HBPD and MBPD just conducted a felony traffic stop on PCH/190th (Anita) St. Not sure of the circs just yet, but looks like another party showed up providing details to PD. Thanks to IG: paul_redondo_mitsubishi for always providing awesome vids from the busy PCH/190th intersection. Side note, if you ever need a new or used vehicle, go see Paul!
Redondo Beach: (More) police activity on 190th/PCH. Seems to be unrelated to the felony T-stop on First/PCH in the last hour.
Hanging out down in the OC last night and as we were leaving a restaurant, Tustin PD was arriving on scene across the street and holding a couple of guys at gunpoint. I accidentally put my phone on slow-mo mode, but don’t know about y’all, it kind of adds a suspenseful, dramatic effect. Might have to keep this in mind for future vid posts…
